WHAT’S THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN BUSINESS?

About 10 years ago, I was hired to design the stage for a conference and had the chance to attend. The room was filled with prominent business owners. During the event, a gentleman shared that he would invest $1,000,000 in a business, but only if they had all of the following:

1. A clear business plan
2. Financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow projections, current and future financial health)
3. A standard operating procedure (SOP) manual
4. Market research and analysis
5. A scalable growth strategy
6. A revenue model
7. A unique selling proposition (USP)
8. An exit strategy
9. A strong team

There were 75 business owners in the room, yet not one of us, myself included, had everything in place. That day, I realized the importance of doing “real business” and getting my act together. I went home and spent the next few weeks organizing and strengthening my business.

Now, I stay ready. I never want to miss another opportunity again.
