We had the best time today at the Eastern Iowa Wedding Show! It was our premiere showcase for The Cottage at the best expo in the area! A huge shout out to our talented Event Coordinator, Kayla (who is also the owner of Pocketful of Posies) for her beautiful floral display in our booth! We love being an all-inclusive venue for our couples to have a stress free experience! ♥️

We had such a great time last night hosting our first ever Daddy Daughter Dance! Thank you to all who came out!
I want to give a special S/O to our awesome DJ, Chase, owner of JM3DJs & Productions who kept the dance floor going with all the little cuties in their red & pink dresses! I also want to mention, his time was 100% donated for this event! Thank you again Chase!
Additionally, we surprised everyone with food, also 100% donated by Frederika Locker! Justin, the owner, is building a brand new facility off a large USDA grant in the Fredericksburg Industrial Park a block from the venue... they are a great catering option for local events and weddings. Thanks again Justin!
Lastly, we found the cutest tie dye jean jacket and little blue bow left behind... if either of these items belong to you please feel free to private message us & we can coordinate a time for pick up.
Cheers to a great kick off event for 2025! We can't wait to continue to show our ever-evolving space with the community! Next up is our Farm to Table Dinner & Ribbon Cutting... we hope to see some of you there supporting our new venture and the top-notch chefs hosting the event! Tickets are a bit higher marked as the chefs are truly amazing - the funds go directly to them, their catering team & all of the Iowa local ingredients. MEET OUR COUPLE ❤
OUR LOVE STORY: David and I met at Hy-Vee where we were both working. We actually had mutual friends that kept talking to each of us about the other. I kept trying to talk to David and he kept playing hard to get. I finally convinced him to have a movie night and we instantly clicked. Very early on in our relationship we took a trip to Savannah, Georgia and knew that we were meant to be together. While hanging out together, I noticed that David needed help with his house and decided to help him completely redo his kitchen. While working on the project, we decided that it would be much easier to just live together while we work on these house projects. And that is how we ended up in Boone with three cats.
WHY WE CHOSE THE COTTAGE: We found The Cottage at Woodland Farm while searching venues in Iowa that had on-site lodging. I have always thought about having a weekend wedding with all of our friends, basically having a sleepover. The venue not only offered that but many different spaces on the land that would allow us to have the guests only go to one location: welcome dinner, ceremony and reception. While touring the venue, we fell in love more because Katie has so much passion in what she is creating. I loved being able to see the projects going on and can't wait to see the beautiful spaces that Katie will create!
