On this we are taking a walk down memory lane...or rather the streets. In 1904, City Council approved the paving of Fredericksburg's muddy streets with large granite blocks. These blocks bore witness to floods, parades, and more until they were repaved in 1977. The granite stones were taken up and sold for $10 each. Each stone is decorated with a small plaque and green felt on the bottom. The proceeds from the sales went toward local historic projects.
Do you or someone you know have one of these stones?
