Fall at Glen Garden!!! (Dick blew this deck off yesterday!!!
And, yes! Some folks like to dance! (9-11-21)
Outdoor wedding venue
Some days Mother Nature just doesn't want to cooperate. No need to worry. We make the best of it with the firepit, torches, and moving tables and chairs under cover. We've actually had couples tell us that they were glad it rained because the whole event became more intimate.
Yummy food catered by The Clubhouse!
Love having The Clubhouse out here! Always friendly and professional! Hi, Maryanne!
Even with yesterday's hot, hot temps (102-degree heat index), DJ Bill Frostick ([email protected]) had almost everyone dancing for almost 2 hours at Jessica and Jason's wedding.
One bride-to-be asked what Glen Garden looked like at a certain time of year. I couldn't answer her question because the scenery out here changes from week to week. As a neighbor said, Mother Nature Rules. If you're visiting Glen Garden in July, it's possible it will look something like this.
Was it really only three weeks ago that the high temps for the day were only in the 50s? And it was raining? In contrast, yesterday's highs were in the 90s. And it was sunny. Welcome to Virginia! The shade of the covered deck and the many trees on the property provided relief from the hot sun. Thankfully, a light breeze blew most of the day. Fans were set up on the covered deck, and newlyweds Justin and Amanda thoughtfully provided cold washcloths (which we put on ice in a silver punch bowl) for their guests. In the video below, guests are enjoying drinks and appetizers during cocktail hour.
Guests are in for a treat when Clubhouse Aquia caters. One of Sunday's guests jokes with Dan (who is carving the rare tenderloin): "Do you have a portion that says I don't have to fit in this outfit for another six months?"
So what if it's cold and rainy outside! That just means "light the candles AND the fireplace" inside the little cottage.
Rain and temps in the 50s didn't stop Saturday's crowd from having a good time, as seen here enjoying drinks and appetizers.
fire pit
This past weekend's weather was chilly and rainy. That's no fun! But sitting around the fire pit on our covered deck sure helped to keep folks warm and dry. Guests absolutely loved it!
For the second time this winter, we dodged a bullet, meaning the snow came in the day AFTER a wee wedding. Yesterday's Valentine's Day wedding was frigid, but the newlyweds didn't seem to notice. We did our best to reflect the holiday in the cottage decor, bouquet, and cake; but I think the bride's shoes stole the show!
It may have been a Sunday afternoon, but it felt like Saturday night at the wedding of Kristin and Jasbir. Clubhouse Aquia provided the delicious food (guests raved!) and bartender; and DJ Chris Cobb had almost everyone on the floor dancing. The bride smiled all day (after all, it is the prettiest thing you can wear!); and the groom said it was one of the best days of his life. But what made me break into my happy dance was at the end of the event when the bride's mom (who helped the bride with all the planning) said everything was perfect. Check out the video of the fun, including guests of all ages dancing the wobble.
Shenandoah Winds again, this time playing a great recessional song -- uhmmmm, what is that tune called, Teresa or Julie? (Sorta makes you want to dance, or skip, or twirl, doesn't it?)
A great alternative to using our sound system for the ceremony is to hire Shenandoah Winds, a clarinet and flute duo. We thought you might enjoy listening to "In Dreams" (soundtrack from "Lord of the Rings"), a song requested by newlyweds Rowena and Rob this past weekend, and played by Teresa Cerritelli and Julie Lauver. Warning: It's so beautiful, it could make you cry.
