Arch Elmer Marshall Obituary
Arch Elmer Marshall, age 86, of Moulton, passed away Monday July 8, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones under the care of Hospice of Ottumwa.
Arch was born on March 21, 1938, in Moulton, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Kathleen (Childs) Marshall. He graduated from Davis County High School with the Class of 1957. On April 6, 1957, he married the love of his life, Laurel Jeanine White, and together they shared 67 years of marriage. To this union five kids were born: Jeff, Cindy, Ronnie, Lori, and Amy.
Throughout his life Arch worked hard and tirelessly to provide for his family. He started in construction and did that for many years before starting a job shearing sheep and collecting wool. In 1968, he won the National Sheep Shearing contest in Indiana. Starting in 1969, he became the local Moorman’s Feed salesman; many people knew him for miles because of this job. After several years with the company he retired, and he was a part of the top 100 club for many of those years. For the last 20 years, he ran his own trenching business, finishing his last job in November 2023.
He was a man of great faith and would talk to anyone that would listen to his story on salvation. He implemented his faith throughout his kids, grandkids, and greats. He was a great storyteller and could turn anything into a lesson about life. A tough and true cowboy who has driven teams for miles and trained a lot of horses and mules.
Left to carry on his legacy include his wife of over 67 years; five children, Jeff (Sharlyn) Marshall, Cindy (Neil) Burns, Ronnie (Sandra) Marshall, Lori (Rodney) D**e, and Amy (Mark) Herbold; 22 grandkids; 53 great grandkids, two sisters, Joyce Bogle and Cathy (Phillip) Goodson, a brother, Larry (Judy) Marshall, a sister-in-law, Charlene Marshall; and numerous extended family and friends.
Welcoming Arch at the gates of heaven are his parents; granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Burns; great-grandchildren, Madison Burns, Micah Burns, and Bailey Bicking; sister, Glennis Ward; brother, Gene Marshall; brother, Jerry Marshall; niece, Wanetta Marshall; and great niece, Mariah Marshall.
