Yesterday was a movie. Since Tasha and I opened Mega Texas Barbeque in October 2018, our dream was always to make our location a destination spot. Someplace where the locals enjoyed what we did so much that people from everywhere traveled to enjoy what we served. Over the years, as our local following grew, so did the amount of travelers. People have traveled to visit us from other cities, states, even other countries. Well, yesterday the ultimate bbq traveler and his family came to see us. barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn or as many know him by his IG handle If you don’t know who he is let me just tell you. Daniel Vaughn is the author of The Prophets of Smoked Meat: A Journey Through Texas Barbecue, the coauthor of Whole Hog BBQ: The Gospel of Carolina Barbecue, and like I said earlier, the barbecue editor at Texas Monthly since 2013. He has traveled the world sampling smoked meats at over 1,800 barbecue joints. If that doesn’t make it clear, let’s just say that if bbq was a country. He’d probably be the president. That being said he came to our bbq establishment and ate the bbq and he told me that he and his family enjoyed everything. He even shared a picture of the platter he ordered on his IG timeline. Let me tell you. It meant the world. And was a huge honor just to serve him and his family. As you who follow us know, we’ve worked so hard, and even travelled to have other bbq ourselves, and use those experiences to make what we do good or better than it had been. We’ve also worked to make it consistent. And so many of you have told us that we’ve done just that. This wouldn’t have happened without you all who’ve allowed us to continue to serve you over the years. And helped us grow to where we are now. Because of that we’d like to thank you, our loyal customers from near and far. We’d also like to thank our team, who’ve continued to work so hard and do everything needed help us improve and make what we serve the best that it has ever been.
