Rather than describe it here is the dvd we made of the process. It was completed in 12 hours then the jam session began. The style is a cross between a "limasan" (middle class) and a "kampung" (village) house. You see many of these in the countryside of west & east Java, ranging from as small as 10' x 10' and up to 40' x 25'. It is constructed in mortise and tenon fashion of reclaimed teak planks & timbers from several houses that were 60-100 years old. Some Indonesian terms:
Angin Angin (wind-wind) = the open carved area above the windows. Majapahit--Carved roof ornament. Stylized fish from 5th century tradition. Used to prevent mischievous spirits from annoying residents. Sirap = roof. Come and enjoy concerts in the garden. Bring your own concert seating. There's plenty of room. Often we begin the evening with a potluck gathering and end the evening with a community jam session. All are welcome. FFS GARDEN CONCERTS:

JOHN McCUTCHEON'S Left Coast tour is ON! He'll be performing LIVE in Fresno Thursday, January 13, 7:30pm at the Unitarian church.
Happy Thanksgiving! Here's a thankful message from John. While staying close to home these past two years, John's musical and lyrical juices have been working overtime. He's released two new CDs (maybe three--I can't keep track).
John is not one to sit and stew. He looks for the humor in difficult situations and also the pain and compassion in conflicts. Oh, John! We're so ready to see and hear you.
Up to date info will be on our Folk Society website December 1. Tickets $25 each on our website. www.fresnofolklore.net
One caveat: Masks will be required inside the sanctuary and proof of vaccinations.
