It's the Monday after the Super Bowl, and I'm still thinking about the way Swift hugged Kelce after the football game. Call us romantics (I mean, we did get into the business of celebrating love), but I think we all want to be hugged by our special person with that kind of passion, love, and support. I wanted to come on here and kind of reintroduce myself. This past year, we took a big break from social media while we focused on all of our weddings. While yes, we realize that not posting all of our beautiful work seems slightly counterintuitive, but as a small and quickly growing floral business, I needed time to evaluate our business.

I'm so proud of how much we've grown over the past 18 months! We've served over 16 happy couples, and can't wait to share their beautiful weddings for you here!

Congratulations to Brittany and Chris and their beautiful, sincere, and incredibly intentional wedding!

It was hard to not become friends with this sweet couple over the past year. I was not only honored to do the floral design for their wedding day, but I was invited to attend as a guest. And let me tell you, I don't think I've even witnessed a sweeter ceremony. I cried almost the entire time.

Last night Alyssa and I attempted the "grocery store flower challenge." We could only buy ONE premixed assortment of flowers and one item of greenery.

Guys. This. Was. Tough.

I'm used to working with high end flowers and more of it. In the end, I decided that we had to harvest greenery and extra flowers from my backyard.

A few tips for designing with pre-made bouquets:

- Don't use a large vase. Often, people will just grab an old rose vase from under their sink and plop the flowers in. These vases have large mouth and are tall, which will accentuate the lack of stems you have.

- Which means - use a short vessel! You will be able to create a better visual ratio when you go smaller. If you don't have one, you can use an old cereal bowel, old candle, or even a small terracotta pot. Bigger isn't better!

- You will need extra filler. Go outside and forage for greenery and flowers - leaves, grass, and shrubs will greatly help you design with volume.

- Add your greenery first. The stems will help create a base and structure for your flowers.

- Create a visual A with your focal flowers. This will help eye movement when looking at your design. The plum ranunculus were used as our focal.

This exercise was super fun. While it was definitely a challenge to elevate your basic chrysanthemum and daisy, we found that if you look outside and forage for some additional ingredients, you can definitely help out your basic grocery flowers.

As a floral artist, I occasionally like to wander out of my comfort zone with color palettes. has a great tutorial on how to desaturate complementary colors to make your design blend, while still be eye catching and cohesive. She's really an inspiration to me, and I'm glad I found her on this platform.

Truth be told, I ended up pulling the pink dahlias out a moment before my client picked up the design. lol I didn't have time to take another photo, but now that I'm seeing the original design with those bright pops of pink, I'm ready to try it again.
