Happy Birthday Prof. Snape.
When actor Alan Rickman came in to consult with costume designer Judianna Makovsky for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, he had two requests. He wanted tight sleeves and lots of buttons. "[Snape] lives within very tight confines, physically as well as emotionally," said Rickman. "The costume helped me to understand somebody who lives absolutely alone. Whereas the different costume designers made all sorts of changes through the films to all the characters, my costume stayed exactly the same for all eight films. And it helped me, thinking that's the only thing hanging in his wardrobe. Makovsky created a severe version of an academic gown, made from a dark blue fabric that photographs black on film. Buttons run up his long sleeves, up to his neck, and even on his pants over his boots. Though traditional, Snape's robes end with a very unique flourish. "We lengthened and split the train so that when he walks, you see these two little tongues that come out, like a snake's forked tongue," Makovsky explains. "So, in a way, he literally slithers out of a room."

MOLLY WEASLEY
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
As actress Julie Walters says about her character, Molly Weasley, "With the Weasleys, Harry gets a mother's love." So, costume designer Judianna Makovsky decided that Molly should have a soft and motherly silhouette. "Nicely rounded," Walters asserts.
To create this, Makovsky did not use cotton stuffing or fluffy wadding, but birdseed! Walters was admittedly worried while on the King's Cross Station set, where there were pigeons in the rafters. Her concern was well-founded, and Makovsky quickly changed the filling. But, "I was heartbroken on the first film," Walters adds, "when Daniel Radcliffe thought that all that was all me."
The Weasleys are not as well-off as other wizarding families, so Molly puts her crafty abilities to good use to "make do," giving
her outfits a homemade feel. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, "Normally she is the mother, but for this she is a fighter, and should look so," says costume designer Jany Temime. "I was again inspired by Spaghetti Westerns."

Magizoologist Newt Scamander finds himself in hot water with MACUSA -the Magical Congress of the United States of America- in Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them. Soon after his arrival in New York City, he's detained by Tina Goldstein, a former Auror for MACUSA, now working in the wand permit office. She takes him in on a Section 3A-failing to Obliviate a No-Maj who witnessed magical activity. She also saw a Niffler that had escaped Newt's case, and MACUSA has very strict regulations regarding magical creatures in the city. And lastly, Newt has traveled to the States without filing the proper wand permit paperwork.
