Hey friends! With the holiday season upon us, I wanted to share my top five tips for setting an intentional and beautiful feasting table that will wow your guests and make your hosting duties a breeze:
1. Set the Table in Advance🕰️
Seriously, the last thing you want to do while juggling food prep is to worry about setting the table. Trust me, set it up at least a day ahead. You’ll thank yourself later!
2. Ensure a Place for Everyone🪑
This one might sound obvious, but it’s so important. Make sure there’s a spot for everyone on your guest list. It feels so nice to know you were thought of before arriving. Whether it’s just having enough seats or making cute name tags, it’s the little things that count.
3. Decorate with Fresh Elements🌿
Add something fresh to your table – it could be a pile of seasonal produce, some fresh flowers from your favorite florist (hint, hint: me! 😉), or clippings from your garden or your neighbor’s. If you haven’t tried Ikebana, the Japanese floral design style, now’s your chance! Grab a flower frog and a shallow vessel, and get creative.
4. Lean Into What You Have🏡
Don’t stress about everything matching perfectly. I’m using a mix of napkins, ceramic plates, and utensils this year because who has a full set for 13? Embrace the charm of a mix-and-match table setting.
5. Get the Kids Involved🧸
Involving the kids in setting the table can add such a personal touch. Last year, my niece added seashells to each place setting, and it was absolutely adorable. Let them get creative and add their own little flair!
Bonus Tip: Candles!🕯️
You can never have too many candles. Tapered, votives, pillared – bring them all out. The more, the merrier!
