Here are seven ways you can support small businesses:

1️⃣ Shop local, shop small. This seems obvious but does require effort. Rather than heading to a large chain store, visit neighborhood shops and specialty stores. Explore the diverse offerings of local businesses, from fashion boutiques to niche service providers, and purchase gift cards for friends and family to expand the reach of your favorite local businesses. Many small business websites offer online shopping options.

2️⃣ Attend local events. Participate in local markets, craft fairs and community events where small businesses showcase their products and services. These gatherings also provide opportunities to build connections with local entrepreneurs.

3️⃣ Procure locally for business needs. Extend your support beyond personal purchases by sourcing goods and services from local vendors for work events and other needs. Whether it's floral arrangements for corporate meetings or catering services for business luncheons, prioritize collaborations with neighborhood enterprises. Consider buying employee and client gifts from local companies as well.

4️⃣ Spread the word. Share your experiences and recommendations with friends and family and leverage social media platforms to spotlight small businesses and amplify their reach within the community.

5️⃣ Publish positive reviews. Sing the praises of small businesses and local restaurants on review sites like Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor. Positive feedback not only bolsters the reputation and credibility of local establishments but also serves as a beacon for prospective customers.

If rain is a sign of great luck, Melanie and Quinton will be the luckiest of them all! However, they were pretty lucky to begin with. We had a beautiful wedding weekend with these two and their family and friends. The overall theme was "family reunion with a bride" and it matched perfectly!

I so enjoyed planning this event with the Bride and her mom and the rest of the family was just as amazing as they said. It was a gorgeous day. Wet, very wet but no doubt, warm and bright from so much love and joy.

Meagan and Justin have some devastating news to share, our Sweet Chili (named after our favorite sauce) has passed away early this morning. We had a wonderful 13 years together, through 3 major moves across states and finally can rest after so many years of taking care and watching guard over us. She was a very hard worker and took her role as guard dog seriously. We will miss her so much, but we know she's at peace. We love our little Chili Bug so much. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for us as we adjust. 💔

As a small business owner, one of the major struggles is stepping out and finding a balance between your personal and professional life. Most business owners started their business by providing their best quality and no one talks about the struggle it is to find and train a full team to not only match your quality, but maintain it while you step out to take some much deserved time to yourself, with your family.

Thank you to Senior Home Share, LLC leader Jackie for ordering this beautiful fruit platter for her team while she was away. There is nothing like that moment when you know you can trust the team you have built. What an accomplishment!!

NEW and Finally Consistent Cafe Hours!!

Hey All!

We've heard your requests and your feedback and we are SO excited to announce our NEW Cafe Hours here at Crossroads Institute.

We will be open consistently for lunch with either a full menu or our NEW "Always Available Menu".

Transparency: It can be quite hard to market this venture anywhere other than Facebook at the moment so we need your help. Please Like and Share this post so that we may get the word out that we are here and we're open! It takes a lot of effort to put this cafe menu together, and it's so discouraging to see that most people don't even see a post until days later! Facebook marketing is so tricky. We can't wait to see you!

A Chef's "Little Black Book"...

My first week in a professional kitchen, the advice was given to get a notebook. Write and save everything. I have had this book throughout my 17 years in a professional kitchen.

TMW: (That Moment When..)
Everything aligns and you are right where you are meant to be.

The reason I am where I am today is this partially due to this crowd. Every year we would attend a family reunion on my dad's side of the family. We would line the tables with crockpots, KFC, Cakes and desserts and all kinds of delicious foods. I looked forward to this event every year, as we got to eat the best meal, and see our family, and sometimes when it was at Oakland school, my brother, my cousin and I always felt so special to be at OUR school on the weekend.

Well, we didn't have a family reunion this year, we haven't been to one in awhile actually, however, we did attend a wedding. My beautiful aunt Nona's wedding.

She and her now husband Deano had hired us to cater for this event and it was such an honor to be trusted to provide my family and their loved ones with a beautiful reception meal. My heart (and tummy) was full that day.

Thank you to our team for handling all the heavy lifting so Justin and I could enjoy this day as guests.
