Great East is tomorrow, Friday, May 31st.
Students need to bring a lunch from home and wear their GMS Music Shirt.
Recommended items include hats, sunscreen, reusable water bottle, and cell phone/extra money if desired.
Students should arrive at GMS for the start of school.
Pickup will be at GHS at 8:45 PM

Hello everyone!
Just a reminder for GMS Chorus students that we have our Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony today. Meet at 4:30PM at City Hall where we will walk over to Monument park for our performance. Dismissal will likely be around 5:30, so families are encouraged to stay with their child for the duration of the ceremony. It will be a short performance and I appreciate your attendance.

We hope you had a safe and spooky Halloween if you celebrate and a wonderful Dia de los Mu***os today and tomorrow as well!
The Gardner Music Boosters are looking for donations of prizes for our Fall Calendar Raffle Fundraiser and we are hoping to get a few more donations before we start. This fundraiser will be to offset some of the cost of the Great East Festival for our students.
We are looking for either donations of cash, or gift cards/certificates as prizes.
If you’d be willing to donate please email myself or Mr. Mellish and we can set up a way to pick up the prize or you may drop it off at the GMS Main office in an envelope.

Hello all!
Today is the day of the parade! Just as a reminder, Mr. Mellish and I will be meeting on Walnut Street with students around 11:30-11:45, walk over to our places for 12:15PM and the parade starts at 1PM.
The parade route is about 1.5 miles and will end at Waterford Street.
We hope to see you there!

PARADE UPDATE:
The City of Gardner Centennial Celebration will be hosting a parade through the downtown on Sunday, September 17th, beginning at 1:00pm. The parade will begin at the Uptown Rotary at intersection of Elm St, Pearl St, Green St, and Central Street and will go down Central Street and Parker Street and end at Waterford Street School.
The map of the parade route, road closures, and detours is here below. Please plan any travel for that day accordingly.
There will be no on-street parking allowed the day of the parade beginning at 7am.
Elm Street from Temple to the Uptown Rotary will close to all traffic at 11:30am.
Roads on which the parade will travel will close at exactly 12:30pm and will re-open once the UMass Minuteman Marching Band travels back through the route on the way to Gardner High School for their free performance.
Hello everyone,
Wow! What an amazing (and quite warm) first week of school. Mr. Mellish and I have been so happy to meet some new faces in band and chorus. The band is beginning to play and the choirs have just finished learning some early warm-up routines.
This year is going to be a great one, I just know it. I speak for both of us when I say how lucky we are to have amazing students as young musicians.
Just as a quick event update: GMS Chorus and Band are invited to walk in the Gardner Centennial Parade coming up on Sunday, September 17th! Students will meet at the Big Chair at 12PM and walk the 1.5 mile parade route and end at Waterford Street School.

Hello everyone, it’s Mr. Davilli!
I’m very happy and excited to tell you about our new band teacher at GMS, Mr. John Mellish!
Mr. Mellish is a graduate of UMass Amherst (2020) where he studied Music Education and his main instrument is the saxophone 🎷. During his time there he was also a drum major for the famous UMass Minuteman Marching Band.
He had previously been working as a high school music teacher in New Hampshire, teaching Band, Chorus, Music Theory, Piano, and Guitar. He plays most woodwind instruments, brass instruments, and is knowledgeable with percussion instruments.
I’m more than happy to welcome Mr. Mellish to the GMS music team, he is a fantastic educator and friend.

Hello all!
This is Mr. Davilli, as you all know, Mr. Zuaro is off on a new and exciting adventure and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we wish him the absolute best.
I am not leaving, however, I will be changing positions…
As of yesterday, I will be the new chorus teacher for Gardner Middle School! I am so lucky to get to inherit a wonderful chorus program and I look forward to switching gears and using my strengths to continue to nurture our wonderful singers. Don’t worry, I will still stop by the band room when I can.

Hello GMS music families!
I hope you are enjoying your summer. I’ve always told my students that music is about being uncomfortable and taking risks. Well Mr. Zuaro decided to follow his own advice.
Some of you may already know but today I resigned as chorus teacher from Gardner Middle School. I have accepted a job in a district in southeastern Massachusetts teaching chorus/music to students in grades 7-12.
I loved each and everyone of your children in Gardner like my own and did my best to make sure they had the very best experience whether they were in chorus or band. They deserve the very best that life has to offer. Never let them give up their dreams!
I’d like to thank each one of you for all your encouragement, help, support and everything you have done for me during my time in Gardner. My heart is breaking while I type this and it was not an easy decision for me.
Please know that I will hold a special place in my heart for GMS music. It is not goodbye but it is see you around. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I look forward to seeing videos and hearing all about how awesome your children are doing.

Yesterday some of the 5th grade chorus and band went and performed for the 4th grade. We then went to friendly’s for lunch afterwards. A great day! Thanks to GES for hosting us. 4th grade students wishing to join band or chorus next year should contact Ms. Struss or Mr. Grady to enroll their child! Can’t wait to have your child join our team!
The Music Boosters will he holding the next car wash to help students raise funds for their trip to Disney this Saturday 6/10! Stop on by between 8 and noon at Advance Auto Parts! Thanks for your support.
What a fantastic day yesterday! Congrats to the amazing GMS Band and Chorus kids and all their families! Mr. Davilli and Mr. Zuaro couldn’t be prouder! Thank you to all the chaperones and school staff/administration who made this day possible yesterday.
