RC PRO Oval Series for 2024 is now over, and it ended in a way differently than it ever has.

Many people kicked in, donated money and items, and showed up to help out a family of a racer who passed. Indy RC World decided to do a racer “last call to the track” for one of their own.

Though it was an emotional way to end a series, it had some good racing and had some great battles to the end.

The RC PRO Finals for Off-road is this next weekend and it is at the one and only Thornhill Racing Circuit, one of the absolute best tracks in the US.

Doors are opening in 1 hour to begin the day for the Oval Finals.

Make sure you get Registered before you hit the track.

Remember, pit spots are first come first serve for this race so get there early!

Tomorrow Indy RC World in Garland opens their doors to close out our oval series for the year.

But tonight they are club racing! Want to get your car ready? Head to their track.

They have practice open all day and then their tone goes off tonight at 7.

Our Series had a lot of posts planned out trying to pump up racers to come race this weekend at Indy RC World for the finals. Our crew has agreed it feels off due to the recent loss of one of our racers, so those posts are cancelled.

We will close out the series this Saturday.

Info for you to know:

Trailer parking is allowed only in specific areas. If there are empty spots in the trailer parking area after 12:30pm, those spots are open for vehicle parking. SEE MAP.

You MUST let an Indy employee know before you settle in your trailer parking spot. In case you may need to move or adjust, you want to be ready to move easily. You can park your trailer as early as FRIDAY starting at 11am.

Registration will happen in the hobby shop this year. You must register before you hit the track.

For the RC PRO OVAL FINALS we have the one and only Knothead, aka Wally, aka Walter Vining as the Race Director at Indy RC World.

Have you ever heard someone say they "'waltered" at the track, maybe when they hit the beam at Indy in the off-road, or when they traction rolled on the Oval? If you have, you can thank Aaron Royston for that as he coined the phrase, and it has been repeated for years since. If you have ever met Walter, it just makes sense.

In 2016 Walter wandered into Indy RC World having never been to a track before, and thought "Oh my god this is the coolest thing I have ever seen!" He said he was hooked. Naturally he bought a slash to start out with and has been racing ever since. He upgraded through slashes and short courses, and then progressed into nitro before also moving over to racing oval cars. His current favorite is Nitro Truggy for off-road, and his street stock for the oval.

Walter has been working in the banking industry as a technical writer for quite a few years, but he also has a bachelor's degree in history with a Minor in the German language. He has 4 kids and has been married for 14 years.

Over the last year Walter has been one of Indy's 4 Race Directors, and while he mainly works on oval nights, he has also helped out RDing at other tracks for RC PRO.

When we asked Walter what he loves about working at Indy, he stated that the crew he works with does really good at getting a demanding job done. No matter the stresses that come with big or small races, at the end of the night he gets to laugh and decompress with his Indy crew.

Finally, we asked him what he loves about RC and he said "The racers who make their home track their weekly place to be, like the ones I have that make Indy family.. that is what I love. The real ones around here know that racing is about working with your hands, being competitive, but also having fun and not taking it too seriously. The hobby can be difficult but if you tune out the toxicity you can have a really good time!"

Walter and the rest of the Indy crew hopes you all come out and finish off the series with some good racing!

RC PRO FINALS for Oval is this weekend!

Things to know:
1. Pit spots for this race are first come first serve. We have indoor spots to accommodate 90 people.

2. Want to bring a trailer? No problem. Just contact someone in the shop and they will show you what spots you can park it in. DO NOT PARK a trailer without checking with Jason or Titus first.

3. Friday night there will be a club race if you want to get in some extra laps and make a two day'er out of it. That race is not a part of the pro series but is a regular club race entry fee of 25/20/15.

4. You will register and sign up in the hobby shop.

The RC PRO Finals for Off-road is in a few weeks! Write down the dates and make sure you are there.

We were told that part of the track that was not open during the Masters, is going to be opened up for the finals!

More info to come in the next two weeks.

**Remember, the finals are NOT a part of the series that can be dropped.
