Friday was our, now annual, "Somewhere Around Valentine's Day Bash" at the Legendary Club 86 in Geneva. Club 86 has always been a special place for us. Owner, the late great Bill Legott, took a liking to the pre-Lipker Sisters Cool Club and booked us often in the Bistro Room. It was also one of the first places Cool Club and The Lipker Sisters played when the Sisters were still in diapers. Much has changed, but not Club 86. It is still the venerable club that hosted the likes of Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole and Buddy Rich, to name a few touring performers of the 40's and 50's that graced the same stage that we did tonight!
To say tonight was a success would be an understatement! The place was full before we even started. Every table was filled ...it was standing room only, especially on the dance floor that was shoulder to shoulder all night!!
The joint was filled with many old and some new friends from not only Geneva but from Rochester and parts in-between. You could feel the energy in the room.
We first want to thank the Legott family for having us, putting on a fantastic event, and making everyone feel welcome. Next out good buddy, the best sound and light tech in the business, Chris Eaton-Hogg..he is a card carrying member of "The Club"! We also want to thank the most in-demand sax player around, long time Geneva legend and all around good guy Jimmy Richmond for sharing the stage, filling in with us. They don't get any better than Jimmy!
Of couse none of this would mean anything with out the support of our incredible fan base, we like to call them "The Coolers". There are no better fans to be found! More than fans, they are friends. We cannot tell you enough how much we appreciate you.
Our next stop is Saturday at Sibley Place in downtown Rochester for a fundraiser to benefit Good People Deserve Wins Too (GPDW2) Queen of Hearts Casino Night Check our page for more info on this very cool event and worthy cause . We will also be at Johnny's in Roch on Feb 24th.
Of course, I can't leave without my "View from the office "...and you wouldn't let me!
