I met Lisa Marie Ayres and John Ayres seven years ago. One year after my stroke. I decided to participate in a yoga retreat as part of long long healing journey. I was inspired by how they mixed their love of food, hospitality, farming, and peaceful places all into a beautiful dream vocation; and I spent years after that returning to the sacred land of Nomia Meadows and The Inn.
Although I have written and filmed several of my treks to this sacred place- I still do not have the right words to capture what it did for me. Over the span of years. Nor can I eloquate properly what these two individuals have done for the journey of my healing heart. One day I will write it down and share it; along with photos and recipes from an evolutionary culinary and spiritual journey that has shaped how I approach food, service, and the natural world around me.
It’s important to know where your food comes from. It’s important to support people who are providing communities with ethically sourced and nutrient dense products. It is is important to me to learn and grow from those who have so much more knowledge than I do on what makes high quality ingredients that show up in many of my dishes.
Travel, friendship, knowledge, love, passion, and beauty are the backbone of each of my recipes; and much of my writing.
Thank you John and Lisa for teaching me so much.
