Tommy Howard, President of the Columbia Building Association, at (843) 833-5007. Maryville Social Hall is under new ownership, with a commitment to main
tain and improve on services to businesses and the community for special events meeting space. The Columbia Building Association recently purchased the building. A Christian men’s organization, the CBA is offering its space for rentals for business meetings, presentations, training sessions and gathering space. The Maryville Social Hall is also an excellent choice for wedding receptions, reunions, birthday and anniversary parties and other celebrations. The building can accommodate 80 people seated at tables and chairs, for a meal, reception or planning meeting. For presentations and larger group meetings, 138 people with chairs only may attend. And, according to the Georgetown City Fire Marshal there is standing room for 190 people at the Maryville Social Hall. A large meeting room is the main feature of the building. There is a raised stage area at the front of the room that could accommodate speakers, head tables or a musical group. Ample tables and chairs are available for use with any rental. There is a home-type kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, stove, sink and coffee pots. Back of the main meeting area is another room that could be used as a bride’s room for a wedding reception. There are five restrooms in the building. In 2008, former owner Ron Charlton received the W.D. Morgan Award for Maryville Social Hall. A plaque proudly displayed on the wall reads: “Recognizing Corporate Citizens Who Conserve And Preserve The Environment And Appearance Of The City Of Georgetown.” The Columbia Building Association values that recognition of the Maryville Social Hall by the City’s Keep Georgetown Beautiful committee. We will strive to honor that award and maintain and improve the building to serve our fellow citizens of Georgetown County.
