About LOCAFLORA
My love story with flowers began over eleven years ago when a generous farmer offered me a job. Her name was Natalie, and she needed some help around the small pick-your-own berry farm that she and her husband Craig started years before. Within a few years of working around the farm, I helped their daughter add flower beds, and we embarked on the exciting adventure of growing and caring for flowers, daily.
From seed catalog to bouquet, I watched and learned—the growth of my confidence in the persevering work of farmers rivaled that of the flowers. I discovered that people didn’t come to farm just to buy flowers and berries. They came for Natalie, Craig, and even me. By handing them a bouquet of flowers that I had watched over, clipped, and arranged, I had both connected with those people and gained their trust.
Today, I don’t work at a farm anymore: I’m a chemist, an artist, a wife, and a member of a lovely community. But I am still fully convinced in the power of farm-to-table flowers. I am so confident that farm fresh flowers improve lives and bring people together that I want the whole of Gettysburg to have them, and to experience the trust and friendship—the common ground—that can be gained over the sight of a beautiful sunflower.
That’s why I started LOCAFLORA—and I’m so excited to share it with you.
