This is not a sob story - it’s a fond farewell!
It was in the springtime of 2017 when we (Mark and Tine) cruised along Route 8 on a blue-sky day looking for the perfect space to set up an art studio. We peeked into a lot of vacant spaces, but 4961 William Flynn Highway was always in our top three. We wrote up a business plan, workshopped our painting offerings and eventually secured this 800-or-so square foot space. Then we scraped the grease from the walls (it was a deli before we moved in), put in flooring and fixtures with a lot of help from family and friends, and decorated until it was just the way we wanted it - cozy. We opened in the fall of 2018 and we were looking forward to a bright future.
We opened strong, then stumbled a lot, but eventually found our footing. By St. Patrick’s Day of 2020, we were enjoying sold-out workshops and getting to know you better. How grateful we are for that! How grateful we are for you!
The Art Cabana will be collapsing its easels and closing the door for good this summer. But until then, we’ll have private and open workshops available (https://www.theartcabana.com/book-a-class)!
We will continue to share our creativity through our Instagram accounts ( and ). We’re also planning one final gallery party at the Cabana (date TBD), and we look forward to expressing our heartfelt gratitude to you in person.
Thank you for 5 wonderful years.
