This Saturday June 1st, join us for Trains, Tractors and diggers at the Gray Gray Railroad from 10am-4pm. We will also be open for strawberry picking!! Hop aboard our train and ride the rails through the farm. We will be bringing out a ton of tractors, loaders, dozers and other various equipment for the little ones to play on. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic along the dam and lake at the farm. Moms, feel free to bring a chilled bottle of red or white and grab some girlfriends to tag along! Cash or local check only. I am extremely excited to announce that the Gray Granite Railorad located in south Glastonbury, CT has purchased #7, a 1913 Baldwin locomotive. The engine is a mogul type 2-6-0 saturated boiler. Here is a few photos of her and some interesting historical information.

This engine was purchased by the W.T. Smith lumber company in Alabama and one of the engineers to run her was the famous country singer, Hank Williams seniors father. Williams was an engineer for the J.T. Smith lumber company. Years later country music legend Hank Williams senior would write “Old Log Train” in homage to his father’s life.

This type of “Victorian” engine is something I have always wanted and if feels nice to acquire one for my railroad.

And the coolest part? She’s a wood burner!! It will be nice “harvesting” my own fuel to burn. I will have a lot of information coming to the group over the next couple weeks as we work to bring her home….

I am happy to announce that Gray Granite Railroad will be opening Saturday March 16th. We will be opening at 11am and we will close at 4pm. We will be operating Saturday and Sunday 11-4pm through Saturday, March 30th only!

Because of how early Easter falls this year we will only be operating Easter trains for six days. Additionally I anticipate possible bad weather and as such may have to close on those days.

Children will ride the GGRR train to the Easter bunnies cabin where they will get to meet Thumper the costumed rabbit. Once done with pictures and hugs kids can then go on an Easter egg hunt in the Christmas tree fields.

Bags to carry eggs are provided, baskets are not needed.

Tickets will be 15.00 for kids, 20.00 for adults. Cash or local check only. Dress warm and bring a smile!!

It’s that time! Train tickets to meet Santa at the North Pole are now available!! Located at the Gray Granite Railroad, on Cavannas farm in beautiful South Glastonbury, Connecticut.

I offer the most unique and intimate experience a family can get when it comes to meeting Santa at his North Pole cabin tucked away in the forest on my 120 year old family farm.

We will be opening the weekend after thanksgiving and running train service to meet Santa through Saturday the 23rd.

Climb aboard Gray Granites restored full size train, and be transported through the Christmas tree farm where a hidden cabin awaits. Upon climbing down you will be greeted by a picturesque North Pole cabin that Santa lives in. With private family rentals Your pre-wrapped gifts await inside so Santa and the elf’s can hand them out to your children by name.

Exquisite Italian meals from Brasatos Italian can be pre-ordered and will be awaiting your arrival.

The fire in the woodstove will be crackling and there will be toy trains running along the ceiling. PRIVATE MESSAGE for more information.
