Set just a few miles south of downtown Denver in Glendale, Colorado, Infinity Park is a 16-acre, multi-use, indoor-outdoor entertainment hub for the entire Denver metro area. Most prominently, Infinity Park is the home to the now professional Glendale Raptors Rugby Team and newly branded amateur Glendale Merlins Rugby Club. However, as Infinity Park continues to grow, it becomes interwoven into the cultural fabric of Colorado in innumerable ways—as an event space, as a place for family fun, as a place that advances the health and fitness of Coloradans of all ages.
Infinity Park, the first rugby-specific stadium in the U.S., covers eight city blocks. At the heart is the rugby field, called a “pitch,” which is the home to Glendale’s men’s and women’s rugby teams. Measuring 70 meters by 100 meters, the pitch was designed to look good and perform well amid the action above: The 9-inch sand base field supports natural gross sod, which is reinforced with polypropylene fibers. Stadium lighting allows matches at any time of day. In addition to Raptors and Merlins games, Infinity Park hosts multiple open tournaments every year.
Rugby is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and follows only soccer at the international level. Nearly 100 years older than American football, rugby has a storied tradition behind it. Its fast, fun gameplay, especially evident in the “7s” variant of the game, bodes well for the sport’s future. In 2016 Rugby returned to the Olympics, an acknowledgement of its surging popularity.
The rugby program serves as the cornerstone for a variety of fitness-oriented outlets in Infinity Park. The Glendale Sports Center located adjacent to the rugby stadium, delivers the experience of a high-priced gym at a fraction of the price. Community members take full advantage of the full-size basketball court, personal trainers, sports leagues, fitness and dance classes, and luxurious locker rooms.
