Brand Associates is the all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit arm of the Brand Library & Art Center.

The Brand Associates raises funds through memberships and donations to support cultural activities at Brand Library & Art Center. We fully fund the Music Series, Dance Series, REEL Art Film Series, partially fund the children programming, additions to the permanent collection of books and music, and the Summer Plaza Series. We have sponsored and produced the Brand Works on Paper Juried Exhibition

(a national art show) for forty nine years running. 2022 marks the 50th Anniversary of this nationally-recognized exhibition.

and Follows Eye and Junior High will be leading participants in clothed Life Drawing workshops featuring model(s) of different body types, abilities, and backgrounds. By drawing others, we are highlighting healthy body image, improving our relationships with our own bodies, and gaining new perspectives on others and the world. In participating in this workshop, we are also going against the archetype of the typical western beauty usually celebrated in art.

On Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Brand Library & Art Center (Recital Hall) at 1601 W. Mountain Street, Glendale, CA 91201.
REEL ART Series in cooperation with will present “Neon” (2015) a film by Director Lawrence Johnston. The film celebrates the invention, beauty, artistry and heritage of the neon sign.

Admission is free and open to the public. Complimentary parking is available in Brand Park adjacent to the library and an accessibility entrance available on the east side of the building.

Attendees are welcome to arrive early at 5:30 PM to view the PST ART exhibition “Blended Worlds: Experiments In Interplanetary Imagination,” a City of Glendale collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), an operating division of Caltech and a Federally Funded Research and Development Center for NASA.

We hope you can join us tomorrow night (Tuesday, Oct. 1), as Art Talks at Brand presents Amie Sillah.

Sillah’s practice is lens-based and includes sculpture, performance, and video work. Her work centers on her family’s lived experiences immigrating from The Gambia to New York, and her relationship with photography as a medium to explore the complexities and diversities of Black diasporic life. Currently, in her practice, Sillah centers on topics of memory, performance, and erasure as an act of care.

Did you see old friends at BRAND 51 or did you make new ones? On Saturday night hundreds of attendees honored the artists at BRAND 51 Works on Paper exhibit, and celebrated the arts at Brand Library & Art Center in Glendale. Lots of good vibes we’re shared and the night hummed with laughter only to be punctuated by the bossa nova sounds of Sunset Jive that played throughout the evening. The show is open through September 1, 2023. Congratulations to Victoria Arriola who won the Juror’s prize for “Faint Murmurings.” Other artist honorees included Tallmadge Doyle for “Night Bloom,” Marianne Sadowski for “The Fine Line,” Rebecca Youssef for “Agrifolia,” Anne Pearce for “Western Blue,” and Jared Barbick for “Coffin Load Of 9 Left Behind.” All the art in the show can be viewed @brandlibrary website. A big applause to this year’s juror, Ara Oshagan, who viewed 1,200 pieces of art and carefully chose this year’s participants for the show and awarded its honorees.
