A tid bit for the day: Balloons have been used for centuries as a form of entertainment and decoration, but their origins can be traced back to the early 14th century in China. The first balloons were made from animal bladders and used for various purposes such as transportation, signaling, and military strategy. The first rubber balloons were invented in the 19th century by Michael Faraday as a result of his experiments with gases. In 1824, he discovered that rubber could be used to contain hydrogen gas, and thus the modern balloon was born. Balloons quickly became a popular form of entertainment and decoration, and they are now used for everything from birthday parties to hot air balloon rides.
