Happy New Year!
Back in 2014 I took a photo a day and made a really awesome album. It was beautiful, tedious and disgustingly time consuming. My son loves it and asked me why I hadn’t made any others. Feeling so much guilt, last year I promised myself to go through external drives and make albums. It didn’t happen. It was just easier when my kids were smaller, less busy and I had the time.
BUT after copious research on album/book making solutions I found something that worked for my needs. I wanted the ability to migrate photos from social media as 95% of my posts are about my kids and usually with a photo. I wanted to include the original captions, so I didn’t have to go through and add text in the album creation. I also wanted the option to choose a hardcover for the books, softcover wasn’t going to hold up for the long term. And it needed to be EASY, like super easy because I was editing holiday sessions at the time and had no room for anything else.
The only solution I found that would do all of this is My Social Book. All I had to do was link my social media- I chose Instagram (though now I want to do a set with Facebook) and select dates/years I wanted for each album, chose hardcover option and a photo for the front, then add to cart. It organizes all of the photos and captions for you, and for videos it will even include a QR code in the album for easy viewing. So I made albums of my entire Instagram feed from August 2012 through December 2024. The process took me 20 minutes. A week later the albums arrived so I was able to gift them to my kids for Christmas. Even the print quality was impressive, considering almost all of my photos were taken with my phone. One day I’ll get to the big camera photos I hope…
But for now- All of these memories finally in albums. My kids loved them.
Just sharing in case anyone else struggles to get albums made and feels guilty for not having something tangible from all of the memories made over the years!
My Social Book didn’t pay me to write this, though they probably should. I’m just so happy I found a solution!
