In the interest of getting them to you as quickly as possible, I did not do any edits on the proofs - purchased photos will be cropped, straightened, brightened etc as needed! Thank you Stockade for providing so many years of great shows which I enjoyed both as a competitor and a photographer.

These are times for dressage tests only. Jumping for the Combined Tests will be held after the dressage for each division has concluded, beginning with Tadpoles and working up in jump height.

We've done our best to avoid ride time conflicts. As always, there may be some room for adjustments if needed.

We're looking forward to a lovely, full show and perfect weather to end our season. See you all on Sunday!

We are sad to report that our CDHJC-recognized Hunter/Equitation show scheduled for this Sunday, September 8, has been canceled.

However....

THE SCHOOLING DRESSAGE/CT SHOW NEXT SUNDAY 9/15/24 IS DEFINITELY STILL RUNNING!!! Entries are rolling in, and we are excited to end our season on a high note. Enter online by midnight tomorrow to avoid the late fee, and we'll see you soon!

RIDE TIMES FOR TOMORROW'S SCHOOLING SHOW HAVE BEEN UPDATED TO CORRECT FOR CONFLICTS AND OMISSIONS. NO TIMES HAVE CHANGED BY MORE THAN 15 MINUTES, AND NONE WERE MOVED EARLIER UNLESS SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED. WE DON'T ANTICIPATE ANY FURTHER CHANGES TO THE DAY'S SCHEDULE.

Important Ride times update:
We just had a big storm roll through at Stockade. All's well but all's also WET. WE ARE GOING TO DELAY WEDNESDAY'S START TIME BY ONE HOUR, TO A 9:30 FIRST RIDE, to allow the rings to drain and the drags to work their magic. ALL WEDNESDAY RIDES WILL BE ONE HOUR LATER THAN ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED.

UPDATE: Due to the huge storm that rolled through this afternoon, ride times have been updated to reflect a one-hour delay in start time for tomorrow (Wednesday). Times have been updated on Fox Village.

If our USEF/USDF shows aren’t up your alley but you want to join us this year, there are still schooling show options on our schedule:

-July 21st Schooling Dressage will close this Saturday, July 13th with late entries being accepted through Wednesday, July 17th.

-Sept. 8th CDHJC/TCRA Hunter Show will accept pre and day of entries.

-Sept. 15th Schooling Dressage and Combined Tests will close on Saturday, September 7th.

For all those who have said you really should get to a Dressage at Stockade show some time, your last chance will be Summer Heat or DAS I/II.

We are saying farewell after 21 years of horse shows at Stockade. We hope our friends far and wide, old and new, will join us for our final USEF/USDF competitions.

Dressage at Stockade Summer Heat (July 17-18) will close this Saturday, July 6th.

Dressage at Stockade I/II (Aug 3-4) will close on July 20th.

In terms of bad horsemanship, there are few things worse than doing things that make a horse nervous and anxious, and then punishing the horse for the “bad” behavior that the rider caused.

And every day, any place that humans deal with horses, this is exactly what we see so much of.

It is easier and more satisfying to blame the horse than to blame our inability to train and ride well.

Learning how to ride and train well enough to create calm, willing partners is hard. Not too many riders can do it, but most think they can.

And that’s why the vicious circle keeps playing out, the rider does something to make the horse worry. The worried horse reacts. The rider punishes the reaction. The horse gets more worried and ramps up the reaction, which makes the already annoyed or angry rider react with MORE pressure, and yet another World War Three is under way. We watch this all the time.

Go for a walk instead, Learn to ride, maybe?

It's almost time! Suzy Stafford will be at Stocakde this Saturday and Sunday (June 22-23) teaching a great group of drivers and horses working at a variety of levels.

Auditors are welcome and encouraged to join us! Lunch will be provided each day and is included in the auditing fee of $30/day or $50/weekend.
