I lost 60 pounds after ordering my dress in a size larger than what I had originally tried on and Fatima made it fit beautifully while still managing to keep my pockets in tact. This wasn’t even the best of her magic, I panicked about a week before my wedding because my dress didn’t have sleeves and it was my biggest dress regret and without really any hesitation she said yes to making custom sleeves just 6 days before my wedding we set up a fitting for a day or two later. As a seamstress, I play a part in making the bride LOOK beautiful. To me, that's the lesser part. I get the greatest joy out of making a woman FEEL beautiful on a day when it matters the most!
Something I get quite a bit is brides who are over 50 acting like they don't deserve to have a beautiful wedding. You do! Look how happy and beautiful the bride looks. She FELT so beautiful that she couldn't wait to show me the photos! ❤️You are never too old to feel amazingly gorgeous!
This was back in 2016. At the time, I was running my business out of a garage behind the house that was converted for me into a small shop. This was an upgrade from working out of a room in the house. Later that year I was able to upgrade to a professional space for the first time. It was such a big deal to me, at the time, to be featured on TV. Me?
What's my point? Work hard. Don't follow your dreams. Plan and make them happen! You will make mistakes and some of them may be embarrassing, but you can not let anything stop you. Progress is a process.

When dress finally came, I had a meltdown because it was AT LEAST 4 sizes too big. I began looking for a seamstress who specializes in bridal alterations because I couldn’t risk taking it to just anyone. When I found MyAbishai, I immediately called, and she got me in for a fitting the same day. A month later at my second fitting, I was literally floored because the dress was pretty much perfect. She could have stopped there, but she continued to refine and adjust until both of us were 100% content with the end product. We are so excited to be able to show these photos. This bride was married just a couple of weeks ago. She chose to wear a hunter green velvet dress instead of a traditional wedding gown. This was custom made and designed right here at Abishai by Fatima Bey. The neckline was not too low. She's busty but didn't want that to be a focal point. It's off the shoulder with a small flutter sleeve on one side. The whole front is a side-wipe rouche. The split is high and sexy. It shows her figure with a balanced flow. Floor-length, but not so long that she's stepping on it. These were some of the key objectives that were met. As you can see she is smiling or laughing in almost every photo. We LOVE making our brides feel beautiful on their important day!
