So a friend and I built this 5 foot Nike Shoe mosaic in Feb 2023. When I say it was a true labor of love…. I really mean that‼️ I used it for one event then it went into storage… As you can see from the before pic not a real storage just a hallway and a room in my house then the garage it’s has been moved and shuffled all about… My husband and Son kept threatening to throw it out because it’s so big and would just be in the way! I just couldn’t bring myself to allow them to throw it away because what it took to construct it….. there were sooooo many steps involved in making this and not to mention the ginormous time commitment-it took days! So fast forward to last month a friend reached out to me to use it and I was like see good thing I kept it😂😂 I had to do a little, well a lot of touch up work to it because it was raggedy by that time. It took 3.5 hours to fully restore it. My first 30ft arch! Whew hunny chile baybee boo let me tell you… so a couple of things. First 30 ft arch and first outside event… I had to fight the wind, the sun and the heat 😝 The sun..The balloons oxidized almost immediately! The balloons on the arch became very fragile to the point when I would try to manipulate them to rearrange them and add my 5 inches and foils they would disintegrate in my hand, literally melting like butter😅The wind was so disrespectful 🤣 it bent the arch more than halfway down to the ground like it was playing limbo. I mean it was swaying like the whip and nay nay 🤭 I had to anchor the arch to the tree, but that’s a story for another day..😂The poor little starburst balloons were just blown all around they just look tired. Did I mention I have a heat rash 😂BUT throuh it all I got it done and learned so much! Would I do another outside event….? YeahWould I do another 30 foot arch? ABSOLUTELY!
