This past Saturday, we were fortunate enough to have none other than David Lee Murphy and LoCash on our stage and we can't thank you guys enough for coming up here to perform. I would like to personally thank the staff, along with every sponsor and volunteer who helped with presenting the 2024 Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair!

In a way it’s like preparing for a holiday, it takes hours of preparation and then it’s over in a heartbeat. In the case of the fair, it takes months to prepare for this 6 day event. Mowing, trimming, flowers, electrical, plumbing, sponsorships, ordering materials, permits and general grounds maintenance are just some of the things that need to be done prior to the fair.

This year we were able to reinstall new lighting all around the grounds, along with many electrical upgrades. A new dairy barn was constructed. Over 2000’ of tile drainage was installed on the track and horse show ring. The track was covered with 140 tons of stone dust. This was all possible because of our sponsors, grants, contractors and volunteers.

Through all of the preparations there is inevitably a chance of error. We all appreciate everyone’s understanding when this happens.

Mother Nature was not so friendly the first two days of the fair, but she ended cooperating through the rest of the week, although she thought it needed to be hot and muggy from dawn to dusk. Unfortunately, it raised havoc with the grounds. The fair is over, but the volunteers continue to restore the grounds, so they can be used by the school and for other upcoming events.

DERBY DAY!! There has been some misscommunication but the derby starts at 12 PM today! $15 for wristbands for the derby FOR ALL AGES. There's gonna be lots of food and fun available and at around 3-3:30 we will be doing the drawing for the e-bike! Tickets for the drawing will be available all afternoon and it's only $10 a ticket to enter. Come on down to derby and enjoy the last day of the fair!

Yesterday, Friday August 2nd, The New York Department of Agriculture Grand Commissioner, Richard Ball, came to the Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County fair for a tour of our agricultural facilities. After viewing the grounds he made an appearance at the dairy show ring and gave a speech about the importance of agriculture and county fairs. Thank you to all that came and listened to the speech and to the Grand Commissioner, we hope to have you back soon!
