'Twas the night by the Lake.
Don't forget the milk and cookies tonight! 🥛🍪

'Twas the night by the lake, all serene and so still, Not a ripple disrupted the icy, calm chill. The moon's gentle glow painted the water with care, In hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.
The dock sat in silence, adorned with garland, While the lures flickered and the children snickered all nestled in blankets, with cocoa to sip, We awaited the magic with fishing rods tight in our grip.
When out on the lake, there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter. Away to the dock, I flew in a dash, Tore open the tackle box and threw out a cast.
The moonlight that danced on the shimmering lake and gave a luster to trees and the fish we hoped to take. What appeared in the distance, with a mystical cheer, But a miniature boat and eight fish right there!
With a jolly old poll, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick. More rapid than starlight, the fish they all came, As he called them by name, each known by its fame:
"Now, Billy Bass! now, Dory! now, Flounder and Vixen! On, Goldie! on, Silver! on, Flipper and Blitzen! To the top of the dock! To the highest snowfall! Now swim away! Swim away! Swim away all!"
Like a snowstorm that sweeps through the sky with a hush, They jumped, so gracefully without any rush. To the top of the dock, the boat gently flew, With a bag full of joy, and Saint Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, upon the dock's top, The dancing of fish wouldn't stop. As I gazed all around, grinning in delight, Out of the boat, Saint Nicholas came into sight.
He was dressed in red waiters, from his chest to his toes, With a coat trimmed in lures, and the frost's icy blow. A sack full of toys he had slung on his back, And he looked like a hero with gifts in his pack.
