We've used edible, gingerbread flavored spoons for cake at a few past events and they were a HUGE hit, even the birds enjoyed them! we've dropped a few links of products that we do use often.

Good afternoon, everyone!

We’ve received so many requests to start recording and sharing video content of our table setups and wedding/event decor, and we’re happy to announce that now we can make that happen! 🎥✨

With our new space at The Aitken Estate (still a work in progress—lots of construction ahead!) we can begin showing behind-the-scenes footage of our design process. We’re hoping it will not only showcase our work, but also bring more eyes to the restoration journey of this beautiful, historic house. 🏰✨

In addition, we're teaming up with our sister company Hive Bartending to create custom cocktails that match the themes of the tables we're designing. 🍸💫

🌿 Our BIG goal for the new year: We want to collaborate with local businesses in Genesee County (new and old!) to keep things local and community-centered. Here's how YOU can get involved:

If you’d like to be featured on one of our tables, we’re offering the opportunity to join us on setup day for some branding shots and content photos.
If you can’t make it, no problem! Simply provide your product, and we’ll cross-tag you in the post/video, plus send you the content photos for you to use on your own platforms.
And if we click creatively, we’ll add you to our preferred vendors list—making it easier for future brides and clients to find you! 🎉

🎉 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉 And what a year it’s shaping up to be! Our 'HIVE' brand has grown exponentially, and while it’s a little terrifying, it’s also incredibly exciting for our family. This year marks a big milestone as we trust others to carry our brand and the core values it holds. We’re confident that the amazing team members we’re bringing on will stay true to our mission and vision.

But that's not all! We’ve recently purchased one of Genesee County’s oldest homes—the historic Aitken Estate. 🏡 We can’t wait to restore this beautiful property and share its incredible history, including the story of the original family who built it in the mid-1800s. This estate will not only be the heart of our business, but it will also become our own wedding venue! 💍

This year is all about growth, and we’re more excited than ever to dive in. Our core values remain at the forefront: practicing eco-friendly, sustainable business practices, offering livable wages, and finding creative ways to honor our past. Our long-term goal is to create more higher-paying jobs right here in Genesee County and continue to support our community.

The Black Hive Co. is evolving into a new mother company called Hive & Co. Starting in the new year, Hive & Co. will have dedicated entities: Hive Weddings and Events, Hive Bartending , and HIVE Photography.

We are SOLID in our mission and values. Our team, along with our trusted vendor partners, has come together to restructure our company to broaden our reach and create more job opportunities. As part of this transition, we are loosening our full control and placing key members in charge of specific aspects of our brand. We have full faith that we are choosing the absolute best people for these positions as we navigate this new path.

One of our future goals is to offer more higher-paying jobs within Genesee County. If more businesses do not step up to pay their employees fairly in the Greater Flint region, Flint will face an even greater challenge in making a comeback.

We’re excited to introduce you to our team members, who will play vital roles in this new chapter. At Hive & Co., our family is committed to making a positive impact in Genesee County. That’s why we've conducted thorough market and local economic analyses to ensure we can provide our staff with livable wages. We partnered up with a local processor.

Nature worked it’s beauty throughout the warm season and Jojo and I walked around The Aitken Estate picking up our new skulls. We still have a few more to find.

So… good news! We have more skulls for our dark and moody brides.

These puppies are ready to be conditioned 😍

No design concept is too far out of the box for us, obviously.

🌟 We just wrapped up our LAST wedding of the season and the final event under "The Black Hive Co." What an interesting year it’s been! We took a leap into a new opportunity that ultimately didn’t pan out as we hoped, but that’s all part of the journey.

As with any business venture, we’ve learned a lot along the way. We’ve recognized that we’ve turned down many job opportunities due to a lack of manpower and organization. But we’re excited to share that we’re putting our heads together to navigate this new direction!

Starting at the beginning of the year, "The Black Hive Co." will become "Hive Weddings," a branch of our parent company, "Hive & Company." You’ll see more on that soon!

A huge thank you to EVERY SINGLE person and professional who has supported us through this massive business restructure. We truly appreciate you—our clients, fellow vendors, and dedicated staff.

Screaming THANK YOU to Colin, one of our Hive Bartending team members, for helping us move a ton of inventory to our soon-to-be forever home for our vintage items! Even in the 90-degree heat, we managed to move a lot!

Is this ideal? No. But it will work.

Small business is all about learning as you go. Did we make a not-so-smart business move? Yes. Will we overcome it? Yes!

From our setbacks, we will grow stronger and move in the right direction.

We’re all anxious, nervous, excited, and overjoyed not only for our future but also for the future of our beautiful historic house,The Aitken Estate, and our staff (family).

Hang in there with us! We are all working together to make our dreams come true in a positive way!

We met with Wanita, the owner of Bentley Florist, yesterday! She also used to own June’s Florist and Ketzler’s Florist here in Genesee County, if you’re familiar with them.

We’ve been trying to connect with Wanita all summer, and we finally made it happen! She works just as hard as we do.

Not only did she treat us to lunch, but she also gifted us this pretty awesome book! We’ve already thumbed through it, and it’s a great resource for any event planner or coordinator. We’re excited to work with her in the future. She has been very helpful in directing us on what our florist (hopefully her) will need onsite in our floral house to make their lives easier.

She loved The Aitken Estate even in its rough standing shape!

Updating our followers:

Come October 5th, our inventory will no longer be located at Bella Venues.

Our two companies are more profitable operating separately.

Furthermore, we are not actively seeking weddings and events at the moment, as we are focusing all our attention on our historic house, The Aitken Estate, where we hope to build our own venue.

It’s super exciting! We still have most of our vintage collection. It’s been a bit bittersweet letting go of some of our vintage pieces, but we’re pleased they’ve been gifted to friends and like-minded small businesses.

Send all the positive vibes our way, as we’ve never developed residential land before! Our hive is growing, and we’re ecstatic about the future.

If you’d like to follow the progress of the historic house, we document all of our advancements and setbacks.

We will return to Bella Venues to set tables in the future, so if you’re looking for a space for your next party, consider booking with them.

Yesterday was Magical!

Congrats Brandon and Kristi!

Kristi had a beautiful embroidered wedding dress with muted greens and rust orange in it.

She was very determined to carry the colors and the tones throughout her design.

This has been, hands down, one of our favorite weddings this year! You know those people where you instantly click and you get one another.
Yep! That's their whole family!
We are now their family and they are now ours!
We cannot wait to see them again.

If the Photographer shares her images with us we will be able to show you her beautiful dress! We almost did have time to take these pics!
