The 11th Event of the 2025 Celebration Season for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was the Gifford Wedding on Saturday, September 6.

From orchestrating a wedding ceremony (filled with unique personal touches) in the picturesque Generation Pines, to a vibrant reception at Posh Place (our playlist ranged from Soulja Boy to Ozzy Osbourne), it was a day as distinctive as the couple we were honoring.

Working with the Giffords was a poignant reminder of why I established Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service—meeting wonderful people with a compelling story, who desired a more intimate and unique wedding. It was truly a blessing to be part of their special day.

The busiest and biggest year yet for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service continued with two parties and a vow renewal over the last few weeks.

First, we helped celebrate Carey's 50th Birthday with a party filled with family, friends, '90s R&B, and even a trip to Shakedown Street for the "Disco Deadheads" in attendance.

Next was a vow renewal ceremony for Josh & Tonya on the 18th Hole of Oak Ridge Golf Club. It was an honor to write and perform a customized ceremony for friends I have known for many years.

Lastly, for the second year in a row, the residents of Eastpointe RV Park in Grand Haven had us back to celebrate summer with party tunes, Costco Margaritas, and "Blue Drank!" Plus, we were able to celebrate the well-earned retirement of our good friend Diane! We plan on returning in 2026!

It was a busy weekend for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service - Friday found us entertaining the folks at the Grand Haven Elks Lodge during the Coast Guard Festival - while Saturday gave us the chance to provide the soundtrack for the backyard wedding of the Woltjers out in some beautiful country. It has been a busy couple of weeks for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service!

June 14th found us providing the soundscape for the wedding of Cody & Tess in Twin Lake. It was the first-ever wedding held at the Pickers Patch, and Nichole Vanderwall did a fantastic job of showcasing her eclectic business as an ideal wedding location.

On June 21st, the wedding of Braxton & Miles was a lively (and windy) occasion in Crockery Township. There was dancing, there was fellowship, and most importantly...love.

June 22nd found us entertaining Miss Juno and her friends for the most awesome birthday party an 8-year-old ever had (lots of "Pink Pony Club & a rousing game of "Simon Says," led by Juno herself!) Thank you to Kassidy Taylor for doing the legwork and setting up a great day for great kids.

The 2025 schedule is filling up, but we still have of openings available and we are already booking for next year.

Over the weekend, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service continued the 2025 season by providing the entertainment for the Barber wedding reception.

The couple celebrated among family and friends at the VFW Post 7729 in Muskegon (the one with the Army tank out front, it's a landmark you know!) Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service is the very best at playing a great mix of dance music for a lively crowd!

We thank Mr. & Mrs. Barber for allowing us to be a part of the most important day of their lives. They are a great couple whose kindness and generosity were much appreciated.

Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service kicked off the 2025 season with a wonderful vow renewal ceremony at Boatwerks Restaurant in Holland. The Koedykers celebrated twenty years of marriage by doing it all over again! It was an eclectic evening of disco, Russian dance, and a Macarena revival! The Koedykers are a gracious and wonderful couple who were a pleasure to serve.

I would also like to thank my daughter, Miss Ella, for helping her Papi set up, test, and repair his DJ gear the night before. I also took her suggestion and played lots of Chappell Roan at the party.

It has been a busy 2024 for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service with marriage celebration services around the world!

In May, I had the honor of performing the Spencer's wedding ceremony at Fricano's Muskegon Lake . It was an intimate, heartfelt affair, reflective of the unique couple exchanging vows this day.

June found us providing the soundtrack for the Darland wedding in Muskegon. From the generational dance to the , a good time was had by all.

On a beautiful July night, with Lake Michigan in the background, the Cooks pledged their lives to one another. With a personalized service which told their story and a presentation encompassing things they hold dear (family and water) it was the perfect way to start their lives together.

And on my trip to the Philippines I performed a renewal of vows ceremony on the 20 th anniversary of my brother and sister-in-law Bernard and Maureen Ponce. On a beach in Boracay, it was such a blessing to celebrate this milestone among our family.

Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service has more events slated for this summer and fall, and we are always looking for more bookings.

As some heroes of mine once sang, "The kids are all right."

I am so very proud of the students in Brian Scott Williams "Pay It Forward" class and thankful for the opportunity they gave me to work with them Saturday night. As we discussed on 92.1 WGHN during "Jesse Bruce Live," a group of Grand Haven High School Seniors organized a "Silent Disco" for students with cognitive challenges. This effort was not for a grade or any credit; rather, it was to do something GOOD for others. The seniors were able to secure headsets and receivers, a venue, decorations, snacks, goodie bags, and the services of Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service to entertain their classmates. In a silent disco, there are no speakers, and the dancers wear headphones to hear the songs. This is a more comforting and better way for many people to enjoy music. The kids had fun and the large, awkward man spinning the tunes was happy he could help out such a good, kind, and heartfelt project. Mr. Williams, your class did something noble, and this community is blessed to have young people who care about their classmates and the importance of inclusivity.

The music of choice was heavy on Beyonce and Disney soundtracks.

My business, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service, returns to weddings in a few weeks, but this event will always stick with me, and for that, I am grateful.

This past weekend Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service presided over and entertained at the wedding of Randy Suzor & Robin Dorman ! This winter wedding with a Christmas theme was staged at Whitlows Forerunner (home of the Buffalo Burger) in Muskegon. Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was honored to help celebrate the union of Travis and Andi Antcliff this past weekend. It was a beautiful and unseasonably warm day in Sparta, so we were able to move most of the festivities outside! Last week, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was honored to serve a pair of weddings in two unique Ottawa County locations. On Saturday, our friends Jake & Chelsea tied the knot at Red Shed Events in Hudsonville. From a ceremony in a cornfield to a reception in an antique barn, we provided a unique soundtrack for a unique couple in a unique place on their special day! Then on Monday, the Jurriens got hitched at the District 5 Schoolhouse in Borculo. These folks liked rock n roll and we rattled the windows in the old school house for sure! We want to thank these couples for their business and wish them the best.
