It has been a busy 2024 for Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service with marriage celebration services around the world!

In May, I had the honor of performing the Spencer's wedding ceremony at Fricano's Muskegon Lake . It was an intimate, heartfelt affair, reflective of the unique couple exchanging vows this day.

June found us providing the soundtrack for the Darland wedding in Muskegon. From the generational dance to the , a good time was had by all.

On a beautiful July night, with Lake Michigan in the background, the Cooks pledged their lives to one another. With a personalized service which told their story and a presentation encompassing things they hold dear (family and water) it was the perfect way to start their lives together.

And on my trip to the Philippines I performed a renewal of vows ceremony on the 20 th anniversary of my brother and sister-in-law Bernard and Maureen Ponce. On a beach in Boracay, it was such a blessing to celebrate this milestone among our family.

Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service has more events slated for this summer and fall, and we are always looking for more bookings.

As some heroes of mine once sang, "The kids are all right."

I am so very proud of the students in Brian Scott Williams "Pay It Forward" class and thankful for the opportunity they gave me to work with them Saturday night. As we discussed on 92.1 WGHN during "Jesse Bruce Live," a group of Grand Haven High School Seniors organized a "Silent Disco" for students with cognitive challenges. This effort was not for a grade or any credit; rather, it was to do something GOOD for others. The seniors were able to secure headsets and receivers, a venue, decorations, snacks, goodie bags, and the services of Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service to entertain their classmates. In a silent disco, there are no speakers, and the dancers wear headphones to hear the songs. This is a more comforting and better way for many people to enjoy music. The kids had fun and the large, awkward man spinning the tunes was happy he could help out such a good, kind, and heartfelt project. Mr. Williams, your class did something noble, and this community is blessed to have young people who care about their classmates and the importance of inclusivity.

The music of choice was heavy on Beyonce and Disney soundtracks.

My business, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service, returns to weddings in a few weeks, but this event will always stick with me, and for that, I am grateful.

This past weekend Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service presided over and entertained at the wedding of Randy Suzor & Robin Dorman ! This winter wedding with a Christmas theme was staged at Whitlows Forerunner (home of the Buffalo Burger) in Muskegon. Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was honored to help celebrate the union of Travis and Andi Antcliff this past weekend. It was a beautiful and unseasonably warm day in Sparta, so we were able to move most of the festivities outside! Following a customized service that intertwined this couple's story with their love of fi****ms, an eclectic playlist of everything from Doja Cat to Confederate Railroad, and a co****le tournament, it was a wonderful way to start the Antcliffs' new adventure! Last week, Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was honored to serve a pair of weddings in two unique Ottawa County locations. On Saturday, our friends Jake & Chelsea tied the knot at Red Shed Events in Hudsonville. From a ceremony in a cornfield to a reception in an antique barn, we provided a unique soundtrack for a unique couple in a unique place on their special day! Then on Monday, the Jurriens got hitched at the District 5 Schoolhouse in Borculo. These folks liked rock n roll and we rattled the windows in the old school house for sure! We want to thank these couples for their business and wish them the best. Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service kicked off the 2023 wedding season by providing the soundtrack to the nuptials of Cameron & Rochelle Harvath!

These long-time loves tied the knot in a Saturday celebration full of joy, dancing, laughter, great music, and a one-of-a-kind DJ!

A massive shout-out to the host venue, the Spring Lake Holiday Inn.

Formally Informal has performed three weddings at this venerable hotel, and they always deliver. The staff was top-notch, and the layout was perfect. If you want a place to celebrate an intimate ceremony, I cannot recommend them enough.

Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service had quite a busy week all across West Michigan! Last Saturday, we provided the music outside and under the stars for the lively VanSlooten wedding. Thursday night I served as the auctioneer at the Tri Cities Habitat For Humanity Hops For Homes Fundraiser. And on this surprisingly warm Friday afternoon, I had the honor of performing the wedding service for the Trybes on the banks of Muskegon Lake. Friday morning, on the banks of Lake Michigan, I had the honor of performing the wedding service of Caleb & Jessica Thayer ! Saturday afternoon I served as the officiant and DJ for the wedding of longtime listeners Larry Sheneman II and Donna Bytwerk at the Holiday Inn Grand Haven-Spring Lake. The celebrations were beautiful and I thank both couples for asking me to be a part of their special days. Today, I had the honor of being the Wedding DJ for my good friends Carl and Beverly (aka "Mrs. Carl") Beresheim, along with Mike and Mindy Hall. This was the most wonderful, fun, and as my service is named, "Formally Informal" celebration of vows! Friends and family gathered in a retro garage as two couples began "hitchin' down the road of life" as the song says. To provide an eclectic soundtrack for these nuptials was not only a joy but good for my soul. The feedback was great, and I look forward to DJ'ing more events in the future...hopefully yours! Last summer I was invited to a dear friend's wedding. Due to COVID 19 headcount restrictions, the only way I could attend was if I worked the wedding as a DJ...something I had never done! The event was a success! The bride and groom were happy, I had a blast (that's me singing at their wedding in the profile picture) and Formally Informal DJ & Emcee Service was born.

I am a niche DJ service geared towards smaller more "informal" weddings and events. If you've been planning your wedding since age 10, I'm probably not your guy! On the other hand, if you're having a simple get-together and want good music with a lively host, look no further.

Being on West Michigan radio since the late 1990s, I incorporate my on-air experience into a unique live presentation. My setup is small...speaker, microphone, laptop & mixer...no lighting rigs or smoke machines...but with simplicity, attention to detail, and talent, I'll give you the day you deserve.
