Cellist Alex Chambers-Ozasky performs next week in the Love Recital Hall.

Chambers-Ozasky performs across genres and currently serves as the Assistant Principal cellist of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he is an associate member with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and has performed regularly with the Wisconsin Philharmonic and Illinois Symphony. In recent years, Alex has appeared as a core member of the Lake Lanier Music Festival, performing chamber music throughout North Georgia. In the summer of 2022, he was awarded a position in the Festival Napa Valley Orchestra, and during the prior summer Alex served as principal cellist of the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado.

We're getting so excited for Christmas with the Celts on December 8 in the Asteria Theatre.

The Celts, are Dubliner Patrick D’Arcy (U2, Sting, Josh Groban) and Fiachra O’Regan from Connemara, Ireland, on uilleann pipes/whistles/bodhran, Maggie Lander and Luisa Marion on vocals and fiddle, Matt Menefee (Mumford & Sons) banjo/mandolin/ vocals, and Nashville songwriter/producer and band leader Ric Blair on vocals/guitar/bodhran/piano.

CMU student Kyra Young-Hood has recently been working with Chicago-based company, Otherworld, and they were recently interviewed for American Theatre following their New York City debut at 54 Below with their parody musical Twihard. Kyra will be finishing her CMU theatre degree Spring 2025.

Knives in Hens

Knives in Hens, performing November 14-23, is a brutal fable set in a spartan, rural community. When the plowman Pony Williams tells his wife, the unnamed Young Woman, that she is like a field, the simile makes no sense to her. But she then embarks on an extraordinary journey towards articulacy, knowledge and emerging consciousness. This modern Scottish classic also takes the age-old structure of the romantic triangle and infuses it with new meaning. As the major center for arts and culture between Denver and Salt Lake City, CMU Performing Arts in the Moss Performing Arts Center provides dance and theatre students with the tools they needed to let their creativity shine. Theatre and dance performances include:

The brand new Mesa Lab performances, dedicated to original work and CMU’s foray into the cutting edge of contemporary theatre making. CMU students work alongside guest artist directors, designers and playwrights to create work never seen before. Mesa Lab productions are for the adventurous-spirited seeking new insight into the human condition.

Main Season dance concerts, featuring internationally-renowned guest artist work, new faculty pieces and adjudicated choreography by selected students. Dance styles range from ballet and tap, to jazz and hip hop, and all styles of modern contemporary work.

Student-directed dance concerts and lab theatre, allowing students the freedom and the experience of producing all aspects of a theatre or dance production.
