We offer the Grand Hall Ballroom and Terrace Level Room which includes a patio and gardens for rent. The Opera House opened in 1884, when Grand Ledge was a thriving resort community. The Structure at 121 South Bridge Street first was Riverside Roller Skating Rink. Later, it became Blake's Opera House, a home to traveling theatrical troupes, community athletic events and gatherings. In 1909 the bui

lding became Sackett's Opera House, then, briefly, a movie theater. In the late 1920's it was converted to a furniture store. In the 1980's it was donated to the Grand Ledge Area Hisorical Society by the Mapes family of Sunfield. The restoration was a joint effort of the Grand Ledge Area Historical Society and the Grand Ledge Area Chamber of Commerce. Presently it is available for wedding ceremonies and receptions, parties, meetings, conferences and musical performances.

On Sunday evening of January 26, 2025 the Opera House sustained substantial water damage from a burst pipe that was part of ​the fire suppression system. The warning system worked as designed and notified the Grand Ledge Fire Department. They responded quickly to evaluate the alarm and subsequently turned off the water. Staff was notified and also responded to the Opera House. Staff contacted Servpro and they immediately responded to mitigation needs.

The Opera House is currently closed to the public, but office staff is available to answer questions and book events. If you have an upcoming event scheduled, you will be contacted. The Opera House Board Authority is currently meeting with insurance representatives and contractors. It is very early in the process but the current estimate is that we will be able to re-open in May. We will keep the public apprised of progress as information is available.
