I took the month of January “off” but let’s take a look at what I did for my business:

• refined my editing to bring more of the “true-tone” colors forward while also taking into consideration that I wanted to start honing in on film 🎞️
• updated my website
• practiced some flat lays with the sun beaming into my living room
• purchased my first film camera!! (all previous cameras were hand me downs)
• started planning a few stylized photo sessions
• reevaluated my workflow
• connected with other honorable Michigan wedding photographers

It was a good month but I’m itching to start creating stunning imagery again🤍

There is no place that inspires my work like Lake Michigan- the serene blues, soft sandy tones, natural greens and the quiet yet powerful presence of the water, sometimes calm and other times, crashing upon the shore.

Every time I photograph, my goal is to do justice to the colors, elements and emotions you’ve so carefully chosen. My desire is that your final gallery feels just like stepping back into the moments as you lived them.

My approach in editing goes hand in hand with my shooting style to bring you a true to life experience with an elevated touch.

This morning I felt prompted to actually write down my big prayers for the year. Admittedly, I think a lack of faith and discipline made me believe I could just remember them off the top of my head but we all know that writing things out is better. So, on this rare morning when my kids slept past 6:00am, I wrote down six big prayers that I get to consistently seek the Lord in. I’m eager to see him work things out for his glory!

I’m thankful that no prayers are too big for the Lord to hear🤍

Our winter view so far…

Being a mom is one of the greatest blessings I have ever experienced. It’s a title I hold very dear to my heart. It has taught me a lot- the Lord has brought me through many many highs and lows to grow me in the three short years I’ve had children.

One of the coolest things is being able to relive parts of my childhood through experiences with them like make-shift sledding, special birthday celebrations, cousin hangouts… the list goes on. And I know it’ll go by fast. I’m warned about the time slipping by nearly every time we go to the grocery store and older moms looks at me and my crew with fondness- even in the middle of hard times.

However, another beautiful side of being a mother that I wasn’t prepared for was the heart of noticing that has developed in me. The more of life I experience, the more I value the work I create. I’m not just working for the perfect photo or captuing candids out of habit. I’m pausing the moments that really do move too fast. I promise you that when I’m capturing photos of your mom zipping up your dress, I’m photographing with the heart of a mother. When I’m taking photos of your sister giving her maid of honor speech, I’m photographing as a sister. When I snapped pictures of you giving your grandparents a hug and kiss on the cheek, I’m photographing as a granddaughter who no longer has grandparents on earth.

Your moments matter and I feel them, too. So, thanks for being here and I hope I get the pleasure of pausing time for you during the best moments of your life 🎞️

Now, I love the beautiful snow and the change of pace into cozy moments at home but spring seems to already be calling my name🌸. Who else has mixed feelings about Michigan winters?!

I often love reminiscing on the wedding days I get the honor of being part of. Today’s moment is for Pachia & Ethan and their stunning wedding celebration that took place on the lush green property of St. Mary’s College. It was an organically joy-filled day with so many heartfelt moments.

But the most unforgettable moment?! Ethan’s surprise for his bride- an enchanting firework display to cap off their perfect day! ✨🪩
