Don't be afraid to reach out to multiple vendors to get an idea of what services cost on average. There are a lot of costs, both obvious and hidden, that you'll have to consider before nailing down your budget.

Couples often contact me seeking a day-of-coordinator. I always educate couples on the difference between a day-of-coordinator and a wedding planner. A wedding planner is often involved with planning your wedding, starting from the beginning of your planning through your wedding day. If you plan to hire a wedding planner, that should be the first vendor you hire. Some people say you should book your venue first. That’s another conversation. Day-of is misleading since really the coordinator starts working 30 to 45 days prior to your wedding day. If you are planning your own wedding, it is essential that you hire a day-of coordinator to manage vendors, set up the timeline, and make sure t's are crossed, and i's are dotted.
