The Bennett-Curtis House was purchased in 1992 by Scott & Kerry Zizic. The restaurant has since been a family owned and operated business. Starting out as a Fine Dine restaurant and hosting Wedding Ceremonies in the beautifully landscaped gardens and Receptions to follow in the turn-of-the century Victorian Mansion, soon adding a Catering business and hosting many special events like the “Murder in the BC Mansion” Mystery Dinner starting its 27th smashing season this year and one of the newest additions “Wizard Themed Dinners” in its second season!
Scott & Kerry have 5 children, all of whom grew up with the business, working in the restaurant- each taking on a different part to help contribute to the success of this family business! Nicole, the oldest, has taken on a managers role and works in the front of house and office. Briana and Zachary you will find in the kitchen, both trained under Scott (Dad), the head chef, and now run the kitchen for many of the events! Maxwell works both in the kitchen, focusing mainly on catered events, and also off premise at the Cafe. Emma, the youngest, helps out bussing, dishwashing, and in the prep kitchen! The newest addition to the crew, Maverick was born September 2018 and is Scott & Kerry’s first grandchild! You will find him helping Mom in the office and Grandpa in the kitchen or hanging out with his Aunts & Uncles!
The Bennett-Curtis House is an 18 room mansion that was built in 1900 by George M. Bennett. Then purchased by Illinois Senator Edward C. Curtis in 1919. The House is set on spacious grounds shaded by 100 year old maples flanked by bubbling fountains, sweeping lawns, lush cool ferns, & colorful flowers. The interior is beautifully decorated featuring crown molding, oak trims inlay wood floors, moray cloth covered walls, stain glass, velvet drapery, and more. If you are looking for a unique and historical setting for your wedding ceremony, reception, dinner party, shower, or your next event, The Bennett- Curtis House is it. This historical venue can host from 2-250 guests featuring many different rooms and set ups inside the mansion and out in the gardens for your event.
