All cleaned up and ready for winter! I always have mixed feelings around this time. I scroll through pics of flowers from the summer and feel sad, but I also feel relief and ready for a break. I have started shopping for seeds and will be getting my seed starting schedule ready next month. I will be starting Lisianthus in January! So, it's a very short break. ðĪŠ

Bud vases are a lot more work than I thought they would be. ðĪŠ Centerpieces are done! Over 90 of them.
The bridal bouquet is done! I even got to use 3 Rip City dahlias from my garden. Workings on boutonnieres now!
(I need to research how to photograph bouquets!)
It's my last wedding of the year. Can't wait to make bouquets with all the beautiful flowers I got from !
Have I ever told you how much I hate shoveling dirt? It is worse than weeding. So, I have been dreading this day for a long time. 1,400 tulip bulbs are planted! 800 for me and 600 for a church fundraiser (Lydia is going to New Orleans this summer to attend the national youth gathering). Now it's time for a back massage!
Fall is my favorite time of year! I wish the sunny jeans and sweatshirt weather days lasted longer than they usually do.
Also, that giant orange dahlia is amazing! I picked that first bloom just before pulling the plant. Kinda frustrating!
When I dug up my dahlias yesterday, I was able to pick some blooms to make my very last arrangement for the year!
Digging dahlias today! Here is how it's done:
*carefully dig up the dahlia plant using a pitch fork to loosen the soil
*wash the dirt off the tuber clump
*find the eyes (this gets easier the more you do it)
*cut the tuber off of the clump, making sure you include the eye
One dahlias tuber can produce at least 5 or more tubers!
My hydrangeas were out of control this year (someone forgot to prune them ðââïļ), but they sure look pretty right now!
The dahlias were covered in spider webs this morning! This weekend starts the great dahlia dig. Every year, I wish I had more plants, but then i am grateful for less when it comes time to dig up the tubers.
Frostmas 2023 hit this morning, and I didn't get outside fast enough to take any pics! I did cover my dahlias so I can continue picking those (and because I didn't get them labeled this past weekend), but there won't be any filler flowers to add to the bouquets. I picked this bouquet last night when I was out covering the dahlias.

This one should be on the chopping block and not grown again next year, but she is just too fun!
A surprise bouquet of flowers! Mostly dahlias. It's very windy today, and I am a little worried about how my dahlia plants are holding up! ðŦĢðĪ
The dahlias!! Gosh, I wish they produced like this earlier in the season. I do plan on growing the early bloomers and big producers again next year, so I plan on flagging those this weekend before the first frost hits. Cornel bronze (second pic) is a must grow. Sweet Nathalie (third picture) grew taller than me but is just starting to bloom. Should I keep her?! My mind says no, but my heart says yes. ðĪŠð

Subscription bouquets have come to end, but the dahlias are still going strong (with some of them just starting ð)!
A couple mystery dahlias! They just started blooming, so I am not sure if I will keep them around or not. I might need to add another bed of 2nd chance dahlias to see if they do better next year.
I used more of my Eucalyptus in a bouquet! ð I only had enough for 2 bouquets this season, but I will take it.

Today's bouquet! I have a really hard time with the whole less is more idea. If I can pick it, I can fit it in the vase!
The peonies are planted!!! The plan is to have peonies all the way around my dahlia garden, but I definitely did not accomplish that this year. I will keep adding more every year until I get there.
There are a few peeps of red in the trees lately! I am loving the color and the beautiful weather. Sleeping with the windows open and airing out the house. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year!
Happy mail day to me!! arrived this week!!! I couldn't get a picture that showed all the eyes, but there are over 7 on that one root. They look amazing! Now i have a list a mile long to get these things in the ground. ðĪŠ
A few of today's subscription bouquets! Waking up to 39° had me inspired for fall, so I added a few fall inspired fillers: peony foliage, ninebark, sedum, and lime light hydrangeas. If you received a bouquet from me today, please let me know how they held up.
Subscription day plus an extra order. I feel the end of my flower season coming as fast as it started. I am ready, but also sad about it. It was a frustrating season with no rain and no sunflowers (who can't grow sunflowers?! ðââïļðĪĶââïļ). But, I am making plans and working on my seed order for next year!

A bouquet of âïļ! I really wasn't kidding when I said I was really into yellow this season. Maybe a little too much? What do you think?

Today's bouquet featuring eucalyptus! It's possibly my only stem of eucalyptus. ðĪŠ That is yet another flower I am not going to give up on!
Today's bouquet features the dark and moody Rip City dahlia! Can you believe I actually remembered the name?! ð
Marigolds. Do you love them or hate them? I was on the fence, but decided to give them a try this year with giant yellow (first pic) and white swan (second pic). Giant yellow is a winner for me! White swan tends to turn brown really fast. What do you think? Should I add giant orange to my seed order for next year?
This is a true mystery dahlia! I think it might be Advance, but I am not 100% sure. I do know that I like it!
I love everything about today's bouquet!! There are so many new dahlias and celosia blooming right now!
