We're beyond honored to share that Chef Julie has been awarded a scholarship to attend the Shared Kitchen Summit in Cleveland, OH this November— the nation’s leading event for food system leaders, shared kitchen operators, and innovators.

This is a BIG deal. To our knowledge, she'll be one of the only people from Montana to receive the scholarship — and possibly one of the few Montanans— in attendance. That means she'll get to represent our state and bring back the concepts, strategies, connections, and inspiration that can help shape the future of our food systems here at home.

The Summit is packed with high-impact sessions and experiences, including:

✨️ Breakouts on financing, pricing models, and building sustainable food businesses

✨️ Panels on circular food economies, food justice, and attracting entrepreneurs

✨️ Workshops on kitchen design, food safety, and retail growth strategies

✨️ A hands-on bus tour of Cleveland’s top shared kitchens

✨️The Golden Whisk Awards at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, celebrating nationwide innovation.

While her $927 registration is covered, we're requesting funds to cover travel, lodging, meals, and educational resources (approx. $2,400 total). Julie's Confirmation is due by Sept 1st...

🍽️ Last year, YWCA Great Falls served over 16,000 meals and provided 5,300+ nights of shelter to women and children across 9 counties. This event helps make that possible!

Back in April, Chef Julie was honored to be elected to the board of a community garden—a local nonprofit rooted in education, food access, and hands-on connection to the soil. Nosh MT is proud to reaffirm our commitment to local sustainability through a meaningful new collaboration with River City Harvest.

As a small business grounded in local sourcing and shared sustainability values, this opportunity aligns with our heart. From here, Chef Julie would love to share a more personal glimpse into the journey so far:

> Since joining the board, I’ve had the privilege of participating in various activities and efforts - from selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the ballpark and sharing Five Guys burgers for a cause, to rolling up my sleeves for planting, weeding, irrigating, and a few early harvests.

I’m refreshing old knowledge and learning more every day. It’s been both humbling and rewarding to connect with others who are just as passionate about growing as they are providing access to local nutritious food.

This season, I got to help plant tomatillos, ground cherries, peppers and bush beans. We’ve already harvested showstopping radishes and a beautiful bounty of hardneck garlic scapes. We even discovered a maple seedling in our topsoil. And thanks to Janice’s generosity, I brought the tree home, along with a cheerful bunch of her marigolds to plant.

I’ve just recently taken on stewardship of "the donor plot," with the intention of mending it into an abundant space that nourishes in every sense of the word.

And they’re growing more than vegetables here!! —our herb and serenity gardens are beginning to take shape, becoming intentional spaces for reflection, connection, and healing.

In a world that feels disconnected from our food, this experience continues to affirm the need for access to local foods for all.

We put our hands in the soil to tend the land with respect and deepen the bond between people and plate.
