It is with a heavy heart that we announce that as of the annual meeting held October 30, 2023, the board of directors has voted unanimously to dissolve Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous. There are numerous reasons for this decision, but it was primarily a question of finances and logistics. The Covid shutdown and having only one convention in three-year span did not do us any favors, to say the least. For more details you can read the minutes of the meeting, posted in the meeting minutes channel (⁠https://discord.com/.../47076385983430.../805187613983113317) of our Discord. If you have any questions, we will do our best to answer them

Thank you everyone who came and raised money for us last night at the Raise the Pint fundraiser at the Mighty Mo! It was a great time introducing games to folks, talking about our mission and drinking beer with friends(both old and new)!
Thank you to all the volunteers that helped at the event and thank you to the very accommodating staff of the Mighty Mo!
We look forward to the possibility of doing this again!

When Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous (GFGR) was founded in 2012 our founding principles were inclusion and providing a safe place for Montana gamers and cosplayers to gather and enjoy the things they love. We take great pride in this and know from the feedback we have been given that GFGR has made good on this principle over the past eleven years.

Here in Montana there are various bills underway that will, if they become law, prohibit things such as drag shows. These bills are written so broadly that they can be interpreted to affect cosplay events, specifically crossplay or gender-swapped cosplay. This would, for example, prohibit a male cosplayer from doing a cosplay of a female character and vice versa. If that happens, it will directly affect GFGR. It would essentially end cosplay at our events.

Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous stands with the members of the cosplay community and especially the Q***r community. We support their rights to be their most authentic selves and to live their most authentic lives in a place that is inclusive, safe, and full of love and acceptance. There is no place for hate within our cosplay and gaming communities.

Good evening everyone .

Following the news yesterday that we would not be able to hold the GFGR Convention in October of 2023, we are also sad to announce that two of our officers, Jade Pray - Board of Directors & Treasurer, and James Bamfield GFGR President, have tendered their resignations from this organization.

We would like to thank them for the time, dedication and effort they have given GFGR. Both of them have shown great diligence in keeping this organization together, and to help weather the storm that was COVID. They were both instrumental in ensuring that 2022's convention ran smoothly, especially after a 2 year hiatus from running any sort of event. We wish them all the success in the world, and hope that any organization they are a part of can benefit from their insight and ideas. Thank you again, Jade and James, for all you've done.

So, where do we go from here? With no convention on our calendar, what will GFGR do now? Well, our mission statement is:

GFGR is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to:
Promoting the societal benefits of gaming of all types including board games, role-playing games, live action role playing, table-top real time strategy, collectible card games, video games, and the preservation of those games for future generations;

The education of the public on the benefits of writing works of high fantasy, science fiction, horror, adventure, suspense/mystery, and the plethora of other genres, and;

Facilitating the hobby of gaming to: a) provide an outlet for creativity for the public and the membership and b) to explore how possible past or future events might have occurred, or may occur through the medium of gaming.

We're absolutely confident that we can achieve all of those goals though different ways for the time being. Our monthly Game Days ware the first of these. Each month, we'll gather, play some games and share some camaraderie . We will have some prizes to win and some raffles happening just for attending these events. We would really like to see you there.

Some other ideas we're looking at are a Cosplay Cavalcade and Costuming Contest, the Magnificent Makers Market and some other events which we can some up with a cutesy alliterative name for.

We'll be making more announcements on all of our social media sites, so look out for all the fun that will be happening in 2023.

Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous’ October Convention has been cancelled for 2023.

With a heavy heart, we had to make some very difficult choices financially. In order for us to possibly run a convention at a future date, we had to make the decision to cancel the convention schedule for October. We will be focusing this year on Membership, Fundraising, and our Game Days.
When the annual October membership meeting comes around, we will look at the organization’s financial position and chart our course at that time. We invite you to take a more active role in our organization with Volunteering; and if you are able, assisting us financially.
