Another Magical Win for Magician Daryl Rogers!
Daryl Rogers returned from the 2024 annual Abbott’s Magic Get-Together with more than just a new trick up his sleeve by taking First Place in the “31st Annual Curly’s Close Up Classic” in Colon, Michigan.
Rogers, a professional magician from Green Bay, Wisconsin, is particularly excited about winning this award. “I have taken first place in stage contests before,” says Rogers, “but this is my first award for close-up magic.” Rogers won out over five other contestants. “It was a tough field this year, and though I competed with what I knew to be a strong routine, I was still surprised when they announced my name as the winner!”
Curly’s has been a mainstay of the Colon scene for many years, and their close-up contest has been a feature of the annual gathering of magicians for many years. “It is a challenging environment for a competition, but that just makes it more fun!” says Rogers.
Rogers’s previous awards include Houdini Club of Wisconsin First Place Stage, Houdini Club of Wisconsin People’s Choice Award, Abbott’s 84th Magic Competition First Place Stage, Outstanding Magician Award I.B.M. Fox Valley Ring, the Magic Warehouse Online Video Challenge Award, and was a 20i9 recipient of the Eugene Burger Legacy Award.

The three shows at the Time Community Theater in Oshkosh went great! With Scott Hanneman as my Technical Director and Kevin Koehne as my Stage Manager, I was able to concentrate on my performances and connecting with the audience. Thanks to all who attended the shows, and I look forward to performing my full evening stage show "Mysteries of Magic" again as soon as possible!

The Jeff McBride's Magic & Mystery School’s “Chicago Doubleheader” was a home run! The Solo Show Boot Camp covered everything one needs to get a full show up and running. The Festival of Magic was a big celebration of friendship, learning, and fun! I was honored to be the opening act in Saturday night’s Festival of Magic All-Star Show! The Rhapsody Theater is a beautiful performance venue, the audience was wonderful, and it was a joy to share my magic at such a prestigious event.

This month I made my first visits as the International Brotherhood of Magicians Territorial Vice President for Wisconsin to the three I.B.M. Rings in the state - Ben Bergor IBM Ring #31 in Madison, IBM Ring 41 (Official) in Milwaukee, and the Dr. Lynn Miner Ring 398 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in Appleton. I was greeted warmly by the members and was able to share a little of what I have to offer each Ring as the liaison between the local Rings and the International group. I look forward to participating in each Ring's meetings, learning more about their members, and elevating awareness of I.B.M.

I had a fantastic time performing my "Mysteries of Magic" show at the Besse Center Theater at Bay College on January 23. It is a beautiful venue, the staff were great and the audience was wonderful! I couldn't be more pleased with how it went, and it was a joy to meet a whole group of new friends after the show.
