In 2015 they were able to realize a dream and further expand with the purchase of 26 acres to begin their own flower farm (Petal Pusher Gardens), where they grow fresh cut flowers, sustainably source natural materials and find endless botanical inspiration. Petal Pusher is a full service florist providing everything from daily deliveries to large scale events to incredibly custom wedding work. They source locally from their own farm as well as two other local growers, in addition to sourcing globally off of the Dutch flower auction and around the world. Their design style focuses on the natural and organic with a touch of the whimsical, and they are every bit as likely to love a tendril as a tulip.

We were so fortunate to have our flower farm, Petal Pusher Gardens, featured on Life on the Farm on WFRV Local 5! Of course, I always think of things I wish I would have said or done after the fact…
1. In response to why we grow our own flowers? Simply because I love it. I just love growing things-and I have my grandparents to thank for instilling that love. 🥰

New Addition to the Shelf of Treasures! 🐍

Those that know me, know I have a shelf of treasures where I collect weird natural things from our farm Petal Pusher Gardens-butterfly wings, feathers, abandoned nests, cool bugs that died of natural causes, etc. And eventually many of these things find their way into our decor-I joke that our home aesthetic is Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary chic! One of the things I collect is snake skin sheds-and usually I only find remnants that have been tattered by the wind or rain.

But today, my husband (who doesn’t like snakes and didn’t want to touch it) found this beauty! A fully intact shed from head to tail! I painstakingly pulled each blade of grass away to be able to remove it intact (like the archeologist I thought I might be when I was little!) So now, to determine where it belongs in our decor-where it won’t creep my husband out too much! 🐍

Well, she had some friends. 🥰 Including a floral chandelier for the ceremony, gorgeous mantle decor, darlingly colorful corsages and bouts, and the cutest map and postcard inspired seating chart (that gave a little nod to their subtle sprinkle of Fleetwood Mac inspo! 😘)

Signs of the season at the shop: the wedding roses shift from Playa Blanca to Pumpkin Spice, amaranthus, grasses and berries start showing up in bouquets, wedding files include the words rust, paprika, cinnamon and terra cotta, and Miss Pippa Pepper starts practicing for her long winter’s naps. (Oh wait, that last one happens year round. 😹) 🍁 🍂

Last fall I was gifted this gorgeous stephanotis plant when its owner no longer had room to overwinter it. So we made room in our living room and our hearts (see last photo of one of our cats “welcoming” Stephanie 😹) and after a winter of battling the short hours of daylight and some mealy bugs, she moved back out to the deck for the summer and she has repaid our hospitality with gorgeous, fragrant blooms!

Our recent tablescape entry for Door Garden Club! A canopy of curly willow and black raspberry canes (because I think thorns are beautiful) sheltering a centerpiece of white scabiosa and pea tendrils (because I also think tendrils are beautiful!), a table runner of green hanging amaranthus and moss chair cushions! All grown and harvested at Petal Pusher Gardens!

We grow and harvest our own fresh cut flowers-from peonies to dahlias to sunflowers to lisianthus and everything in between! We also use the woodland portion of the property to sustainably forage natural materials such as branches, moss, bark and more. This direct connection to the natural world influences our design style and provides us with endless inspiration. There is something magical about watching a dahlia progress from a lowly tuber to a beautiful blossom, and then watching that blossom become a part of one of our beautiful bouquets. We feel so honored to be a part of that full and magical circle.
