HELENE Updates- Closures, Sand Bags, Shelters, Call Center Info
GOVERNMENT CLOSURES: All Clay County Board of County Commissioners offices will close at noon on Today (9/25 Wednesday) and will be closed all day Thursday 9/26 and Friday 9/27.
The Clay County Courthouse will be open Wednesday 9/25, closed on Thursday 9/26 and yet to be determined scheduled for Friday 9/27.
SANDBAGS: The County will have one location open for sandbags at the Clay County Fairgrounds starting Wednesday morning from 8:00-6:00. The sandbags are limited to 10 per person. Bags are first come, first served and have a limited supply. The county will refill the sites as needed. You will have to fill up your own bags. Shovels are not provided. Residents should bring their own to fill their bags.
SCHOOL CLOSURES: Clay County District Schools announced schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
SHELTERS: Five school shelters will open Wednesday at 6:00 PM: Orange Park High (Pet friendly), Keystone Elementary (Pet friendly), Lake Asbury Junior High (Special needs shelter), Clay High School, Wilkinson Elementary
CURBSIDE GARBAGE COLLECTION: Wednesday collection as usual. There is a strong possibility that curbside garbage collection will be canceled on Thursday and possibly Friday.
CALL CENTER: The County Call Center is available for any questions from residents effective Wednesday at 7 AM. That number is 1-877-252-9362 It will remain open until the storm has left our area or until further notice.
