Why hire an Wedding/Event Planner -
Many people have asked "Why should I hire a planner? Aren't they expensive?" In this day and age, every penny needs to be stretched twice as far. The monies you spend on celebration and events need to be spent in the right areas, and do you really want to spend some of that on a planner? The answer is in the question itself. How do you know what are the right areas to spend your money? How do you know if you've spent too much? There's also another important factor to consider. What about your enjoyment of this event? Most people who plan and supervise their own events (myself included) find that they are so busy making sure the food trays are full, the garbage gets changed, and the cake gets served, that they forget that they are suppose to be able to enjoy as well! Even if you want to plan everything yourself, many planners offer "Day-Of" services to keep things running smoothly so you don't have to. Having a planner gives you peace of mind, spirit, and a sense of confidence about your wallet, and is always money well spent. So for your next wedding, party or event, give us a call!

It's Wedding Show season! That means fun, lots of great opportunities to meet with vendors, and get great ideas for your important day. For many of these shows, you'll be asked to provide your contact information, including email, that is shared with all of the vendors, and often sold to others in the wedding industry. How do you avoid having your email busting at the seams? Set yourself up an additional email address, from an online service such as Google or Yahoo, that will strictly be used for your wedding. You can use it for all your planning needs. This gives you the opportunity to keep your regular email safe. Need help sorting through the emails? Let us point you in the right direction - give us a call, send us an email, or reach out to us on Facebook today!

Is it OK to ask for money in lieu of gifts? - With more and more couples living together before being married, the need for registering for household items has begun to dwindle. This also causes an issue for the traditional "Bridal Shower", truly intended to "shower" the Bride with items that she would need in her new home. So, many couples wonder how to effectively communicate to their friends and family that they would prefer a generic monetary gift? Is it appropriate to include that information in the invitation? Honestly, it's really not. By putting that request in your invitations, you may make your guests feel obligated and uncomfortable. The best way to communicate this is by word of mouth. Let your close family and friends casually know and allow them to pass it long to anyone who asks. I also always recommend registering for a few items, just to give everyone different options for different budgets. Just remember - You have decided to invite your guests because you want them to share in your special day, not because of the gift they will give. Need more help sorting through more "Wedding Etiquette"? Call or email us, or send us a message on Facebook today!

"RSVP" - What to do when you're not receiving them from your guests -
"Répondez S'il Vous Plaît" or "Please Respond". This is normally included in the invite for every event, from a simple dinner party to a wedding. Most people are good at responding either way for a wedding, but rarely for anything else. This can be very frustrating for your host. First and foremost, if you are the one receiving the invite and it asks for an RSVP - Please make sure your respond! This information is mainly used to headcount to determine food, but can also be important for grab bags and other goodies. If your the host, be patient. You will receive the most responses right after the invites are sent or just before your respond by date. If the responses are light, rule of thumb is to take your initial guest count and multiply by 80%. If your only have a few stragglers, always add a few to your final count. This accounts for the responses that "got lost in the mail". Need help coming up with other ideas to get your guests to say yes? Find us on Facebook and send us a message, visit our website, or send us an email today!

What is the one thing that you can never control for even the best planned event - THE WEATHER! This can also the biggest factor overlooked when planning your event. Most people think it's a choice simply between indoors or outdoors. But there are other factors to consider as well. First, deciding whether you would like an indoor or outdoor event is the place to start. This may be dictated by some of the activities that you have planned (Games, Need for electrical outlets, Dancing, etc.). Then, consider some environmental factors. If your guests include children, people with health conditions or the elderly, having heating/cooling available at your venue is a must, even for an indoor venue. You may like to sweat, but not all of your guests might. For outdoor events, think about how you will provide shade and keep your guests hydrated. You also need to consider having a Plan B if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. This is where having an Event Planner can come in very handy. They can make sure all these factors and more are covered, leaving you to enjoy your event. Give us a call today!

This Week's Planning Tip - Know your guests/audience. Whether planning a wedding, birthday party, or other event, make sure that you are thinking about how your decisions will impact them. Driving distance between venues, entertainment choices, and their cost can inadvertently exclude some of the people you most want to attend. Make it work for everyone, and you will have a bigger, better event that everyone will enjoy. Need help getting started? Reach out to us on Facebook, email us, or call us today!

Weekly Updates are back!!!! Here is this week's tip - Always know your limits. Everyone has varying degrees of expertise. In planning any party, wedding, or event, it's important to realize when you are in over your head. What not everyone understands is that you can still be well in control of your event - choosing theme, colors, venue, food, entertainment - but delegating the ex*****on of those choices to someone who can make your total vision come together. You may think that you can get your space set-up the way you want, but not have realized that the beautiful candles you have for a centerpiece require a fire permit. Depending on when you find this out, it could put a damper on your entire event. Don't make this mistake. Most importantly, remember that it is NEVER too late to hire a planner, no matter where you are in your planning process. Let us bring the your fantastic event to life. Reach out to us today!
