A question that we're getting a lot: Is there a business plan and financial details for potential investors to review? A fair question: Why does OBC have $1,167,316 in debt?

Question one answer: Yes! Serious potential investors should email [email protected] to discuss the sharing of this information.

Question two answer: We put over a million dollars into just the building itself. We specifically chose historic downtown Greensboro for a brewery because we believe in the revitalization of this community. Our hope has always been that the brewery could be a springboard for other redevelopment projections. The time and money that we put in for years before our grand opening was a show of our confidence and belief in the City of Greensboro and the communities around us.

We believed that a small craft brewery could exist in a small town and for seven and a half years, we’ve proven that to be true.

We could have bought some land and built a new building for a fraction of the cost. But our building has so much character. Restoring the former mill warehouse and keeping as much of the original building in place was extremely important to us.

Equipment wise, we purchased brewing equipment during a period when the craft beer industry was booming. Equipment manufactures had long lead times. Tanks were expensive. Our brewhouse was custom made with intricate piping. We sized our equipment to produce enough beer to distribute around the state of Georgia and, possibly, beyond. And we’ve done that. We have had accounts all over Georgia, we brew Hey Man for the beloved Dukes & Bell radio show, we released Bacon & Kegs with Waffle House. We even sent beer into the stratosphere. 🚀 We've been creative. We've kept our team small. We've worked hard. We've been committed.

Oconee Brewing is an excellent brand with a terrible interest rate.

A question that some of you may be too polite to ask: I have tickets to an event in December and/or in 2025....If the Brewery closes, will I get a refund?

The short answer: Yes. The longer answer: We're still not clear on how all this will play out. Our BIG hope is that an investor swoops in, slays the 11.25% interest rate dragon, and declares "Let the good times keep rolling!" And we're currently putting together some fundraisers. 💚

Our second (but no less sincere) hope is that you guys will be patient with us and will keep supporting our tasting room, our Event Center, and The Burch food truck. Let's PACK the Brewery for Friday night's Van Halen tribute concert! Tickets are on oconeebrewingco.biz

Dear Friends of Oconee Brewing,

You may have read in last week's issue of the Herald Journal that Ameris Bank has brought foreclosure action against Oconee Brewing Company. Our 11,000 square foot facility has not been immune to the recent economic decline of the craft beer industry across the nation. That, coupled with a SBA loan interest rate that rose to 11.25% and the lingering effects from the pandemic, has been a very difficult road for the Brewery to navigate.

Oconee Brewing Company was a downtown revitalization development that so many of you have championed from the very beginning. We set out to build a production brewery, but over the last seven and a half years, OBC has become so much more than just about beer. The former cotton mill has become a community gathering place of which we are incredibly proud.

Just because the business dynamics changed on us, doesn’t mean we that have given up. The principal amount advertised by Ameris Bank is $1,167,316. Our hope is that a small group of investors will come forward. We are continuing to explore all options and remain optimistic that we can find a solution.

For now, I’m still brewing beer and we intend to keep the doors open as long as we can.

A: Not so fast, slick. Chairs added to a table are $40 each. So if you bought $25 general admission tickets to add to your table, you'll pay the $15 difference per chair to make this plan a reality.
