Sometimes when I’m processing a big flower order for a wedding and I see all of the colors and blooms separated in their buckets I panic—do these work well together? Did I get this right?

Then as soon as the designing starts and the colors and textures start to work together instead of stand alone, something magical happens.

Planning the perfect floral recipes takes time and experience, but it also sometimes just means trusting your gut.

I love how Ginny’s color palette came together.

FLORA is 9 years old!!!

It’s hard to believe this little business that started on folding tables in my living room has blossomed into the thing it is today. I scrolled through my calendar and I’ve done 292 weddings and events since the first day. I’ve made bouquets in front of three different pregnant bellies. Designed out of four different studios. Made some of the most meaningful friendships out of my coworkers. Grown in confidence and ability.

This small business also supported me and my children through my unexpected divorce and the insanity of single parenting and being the sole provider for my family.

I’ve tackled designs and installations that would have had me shaking in my boots nine years ago. I’ve learned to lead teams, trust my gut, protect my time and believe that “it always gets done”.

It’s a hard job, full of long hours, weekends away from my kids, physical labor and mental exhaustion, but I truly cannot imagine doing anything else. I’m endlessly thankful to everyone who has been a part of the FLORA journey, from clients to vendors to employees.

Here’s to 2025 and all the beauty it holds! Thank you!

Rounding the corner on finishing up our fall wedding season in less than a month and can’t help but think back on some of my favorite reception designs. Shannon + Emerson’s “juicy fall” color palette was so perfect for their September wedding at The William Aiken House. What a way to kick off the Fall 2024 season! Flora was lucky enough to get to design the florals for the first wedding at Charleston’s newest venue, along with some of our favorite vendors and ! Lydia + Donald could not have been a more precious couple to start the season with and the space was gorgeous. Right on the Kiawah River, beautiful modern indoor reception space, sweet little cocktail hour courtyard, gorgeous views—this is a place we hope to add to our regular roster of venues!

Morgan + Stephen’s mid week wedding was the epitome of lovely. Fresh, textural arrangements with reeded glass chimney sleeves and lamp light woven throughout the two dining tables made for a full, yet intimate setting.
