The story of MB Bride
Our story began in 1991 when the Pederson family acquired Modern Bride.
The original 2,000 sq ft location opened with just two employees, 20 wedding dresses, and 25 bridesmaid dresses. Our entire first month sales was less than what we do now in an average hour. The store grew very quickly after leading to two store expansions that almost doubled our floor space. The early days weren’t without obstacles, though. The owners of Modern Bride Magazine sued us for using "their" name so we changed to MB Bride & Special Occasion around 1995. What does MB stand for? We weren't quite sure ourselves at the time but it just seemed to work. In the end, we decided that it stands for "Most Beautiful" Bride. By 2004 MB Bride prepared to keep up with its growing reputation. The business grew to the point where customers would turn around and leave when seeing such a crowded place. So we crossed our fingers and took a much larger risk than we had ever contemplated by purchasing and renovating the old Greensburg Lumber store; a building that is four times the size of our original store! Fortunately, the store prospered even more than planned with customers coming from other states. Our Prom Store was added in 2006, along with an expanded alterations department and an innovative gown storage system. In 2012 a dozen new fitting rooms were added throughout the store, the alterations department was redesigned to better serve both our customers and our expert associates. Other changes resulted in the store you see now. Today, MB Bride & Special Occasion has gained national recognition.
We now offer over 600 bridal dresses and over 1,300 bridesmaid dresses. Our expert bridal consultants travel to Chicago, New York, Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, and other cities at the center of the industry to meet with cutting edge designers and learn about fabrics, construction, and the newest style trends. The experts guiding your experience are even invited to critique and help create designer lines. After all, they know many of the industry’s leading designers personally.
While we look back and truly feel blessed, we also look forward to the future. We are always looking for ways to improve our business and recently have added an all new computer system including the hardware. We installed new lighting and new air conditioners. We currently have a few projects in the planning to further upgrade your experience in our store.
