We finished up most of our spring bulb planting today. In total, we are planting about 3,000 bulbs for this season. In spring of this year we had tulips, specialty daffodils, and ranunculus. For 2025 we are expanding those as well as adding hyacinths, alliums, and anemones. We expect to have spring bouquets available starting in April.

Stay tuned for our 2025 subscriptions (launching on our website this month!) There will be a spring subscription option.🌷

Currently drowning in leaves and dahlia tubers 🍂🥔

Leaf cleanup here takes 4-5 full days, but I’ll be grateful the whole rest of the year to have organic matter to add to the garden beds and walkways.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with dahlias, they grow from tubers. Where we live, these tubers need to be dug up every fall or else they’ll freeze and rot in the ground. It’s a big undertaking but also exciting because they multiply & we will roughly quadruple our stock of tubers which means more plants for next year 👏🏻

While I’m here I also need to share this beautiful lotion by Florence May Floristry, I’m a huge fan of natural skincare and the fact that this is infused with locally grown flowers makes it that much cooler! It smells beautiful and these extra vitamins are just what everybody’s skin needs this time of year 🤍

on my crop planning list for next year: more dahlias 🙌🏼 we planted 250 this year and I’m hoping to double or triple that in 2025. they’re so fun, come in such a wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes, and bloom so prolifically. they won me over this season.

getting ready for some fall planting here pretty soon! growing so many flowers is a year-round labor of love…the 2024 season may be coming to an end but it’s time to start for next year. today we received echinacea, yarrow, and delphinium plugs. we have another order on the way plus we started a few other things like hollyhock, lupine, and foxglove from seed a few months ago, which will also be going in the ground soon. next up will be all the bulbs 🌷 then before we know it it’ll be january and we will be starting trays of seeds under grow lights in the basement.
