Located in Old Gretna, Primary Workspace is an imaginative, adaptive re-use of an important historical school building into a shared office and co-working space. Primary Workspace offers a variety of office and co-working options with a goal of providing a home for high-growth companies, both local and national, balanced with flexible traditional, co-working options and event space. The developmen

t offers several membership options, including private offices of various sizes, dedicated workstations and commons memberships which provide access to all shared spaces. It is also available oustside of regular business hours (8am-5pm) as an event rental space.

Once a former schoolhouse, now a thriving workspace. This transformational project has breathed new life into a building that sat mostly vacant for over 50 years. Now, Primary Workspace offers 20,000 sq. ft. of flexible coworking and office space, designed to support entrepreneurs, small businesses, and creatives in the area’s growing economic corridor.

Proudly supported by local, regional, and state officials, this space will have a long-lasting impact on Gretna’s historic downtown and beyond.

Long Ave. has been thoughtfully reimagined.

The Primary Workspace now offers coworking areas, private offices, and an event venue, revitalizing this landmark with new purpose and energy.

Another exciting project accomplished through public-private partnership. Jefferson Parish, along with Jefferson Facilities Inc. and Formwork Development, have completely transformed the old Primary Schoolhouse located at 519 Huey P. Long Ave. in Gretna. This building, owned by Jefferson Parish, has been vacant for over 50 years without an identified purpose. Unbeknownst to many, the interior of this space is and will remain a historic gem. Great attention was given to restoration and preservation of the many historic elements of the building while incorporating a modern touch.

This building will now be placed into commerce by offering co-working space, event space, the German American Cultural Museum as well as a small neighborhood market.
