Hello everyone! I’m Ms. Thomas, and I am thrilled to announce that I am joining the Gridley High School Agricultural Education Department as I embark on my 5th year of teaching! I will be teaching the Floral Pathway 💐

A bit about me: I grew up in Sutter, California, as a 6th generation Agriculturalist and 2nd generation Agricultural Educator. My early years were filled with raising show pigs and beef cattle alongside my family in Northern California. My journey through 4-H and FFA in Colusa provided me with numerous opportunities to grow and succeed, including winning the 2014 National FFA Diversified Agricultural Production Proficiency Award and being named the California Star State Farmer in 2016. These experiences fueled my passion for agriculture and education.

I pursued my dreams at Oklahoma State University, where I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science and Agricultural Education. Now, I’m excited to bring my experience and enthusiasm to Gridley High School, where I look forward to meeting the new members and making this year unforgettable for our chapter.

Gridley Floral is once again offering beautiful monthly arrangements and houseplants. Floral arrangements are specially crafted to meet the holiday/season theme from September-May for a total of 9 months!

Mrs Alvarez is excited to bring hands-on guidance as students practice and continue to develop their floral skills. Making these monthly arrangements will also provide valuable experience for our floral teams as they compete in career development events throughout the school year.

All skills learned in class and at career development events are all floral industry level skills! This allows our students to become competitive in the floriculture industry and opens career and job opportunities for them!

Welcome to Gridley Floral!🌺🌼🌸🌻

My name is Meaghan Alvarez and I will be taking over the floral department at Gridley High School. I’ve been teaching for ten years and six of those years I’ve taught the Floral Design pathway. My students focus on marketing, design, identification and creativity using their knowledge of principles and elements of design along with so much more. I’ve had the pleasure of creating beautiful arrangements for weddings, celebration of life, quinceanera and private events. I’m happy to take on your event with the help of my students. Allowing my students these real world skills are what it’s all about! The majority of my students become certified in floral design before graduation. This is a test of their knowledge and skill making arrangement. I absolutely love the look on my students face when they have spent hours making flowers for special events and get to see the look on our customers face when they are delivered.

Flowers bring beauty and light into our lives and I’m so blessed I have the opportunity to work with them everyday and share them with all of you!
