Our Story
Cafe Runner is a local, family-owned restaurant delivery service on the central coast of CA that delivers food from over 70 restaurants at the click (tap?) of a button. You can browse menus & order online @www.caferunner.com, in-app, or by phone (805) 541-3663.
I originally started out of my bedroom in Pismo Beach in 1996 when I was 20 years old (and had no idea what I was doing). I worked at a local hotel so my original idea was to provide “room service” to hotels from local restaurants. But six months later, I decided we should deliver “room service” to anyone in town.
In 1996, the internet wasn’t even a thing quite yet and dial-up internet was the only way to get it if it was available in your town. So, in the beginning, we took orders by phone in our bedroom, then we’d call the order in to the restaurant (who had to write it down on an order pad), and then my wife would page me and my dad a # into our pager that corresponded with the next restaurant we were to pickup at (Rosa’s Ristornate Italiano was #1, etc). Then me & my dad would use a huge paper map to figure out how to get to your house.
Today, we deliver food from over 70 restaurants and you can order 3 ways: By phone (805) 541-3663, Online @www.caferunner.com or we merge old-school service with new-school technology (as best as we can at least). Browse menus & order via the Cafe Runner app or order online @www.caferunner.com. We built this business by building strong relationships with our partner restaurants and our customers. We love what we do and we love hearing from our customers when we’ve done a good job or enriched their lives in some small way. As a matter of fact, we still love getting to talk to customers who call their orders in, it makes us feel loved.
