Happy Craig Campbell day! It's hard to put into words how much Craig meant to our production. He was an integral part of the 'folk fest' for as long as any of us can remember and it can honestly be said that we wouldn't have become the production that we became without his tireless efforts (and generosity). In spite of our very limited budget every summer, Craig always made sure that we had the very best equipment available and was the first person to arrive (and last to leave) that made sure that it all sounded as good as possible throughout the festival weekend. And damn did it sound good at our park.
Among his many titles, Craig was a father, brother, son, and friend and our collective heart goes out to anyone that knew him. We loved and appreciated you, Mr. Campbell. Thanks for everything, we're forever grateful. RIP 🧡
"The Northern Rockies Folk/Music Festival couldn’t have been as great as it was without Craig Campbell." ~ Peter Kramer

🎶🎶ARTIST SPOTLIGHT🎶🎶

Andrew Sheppard will be performing at Summer's End ~ The Draper Rendezvous 2021 in less than a week's time at Lion's Park in Hailey, Idaho August 27 -28, 2021. Hometown Hero and inspiration to all. Andrew Sheppard's killer 2019 performance at The first annual convinced us all we want him back more and more and the legend keeps climbing towards new heights. DrSwanMusic is beyond proud of you!

Bio:
Andrew Sheppard

Singer-songwriter Andrew Sheppard grew up in Hailey, Idaho around an abundant amount of musicians as his mother was always playing and singing in rock and roll and blues bands. Influenced by taking in their rehearsals and live shows, Sheppard was playing bass in punk rock bands in high school. At the age of 19, he picked up the guitar and started writing songs and 10 years later, he is poised to release his sophomore album, Steady Your Aim on March 23rd.

Steady Your Aim is a concept record, a musical journey in which every song was methodically thought out to fit the record. An analog recording, it is a cinematic dreamscape narrative that is richly layered with the pedal steel, piano, cello, Wurlitzer and organ. All of their parts are gently tucked in which leaves the listener wondering just what it is they are actually hearing. “We used traditional sounding instruments to create a new sound,” said Sheppard. “For example, we used cello on this record because I wanted a deep sound that didn’t come from anything electric or synthetic. Instead of being a ‘lead’ instrument we used it as a texture tool giving the songs a more rich and ‘real’ feel.” Produced by Sheppard, Eric Loomis and Wes Walsworth (both of whom play guitar on the album), Steady Your Aim was recorded at Loomis’ Ivy Hall Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. John Mayfield at Mayfield Mastering mastered the record.

Leaving Idaho just after high school, Sheppard headed to Los Angeles, CA to pursue his other passion, skateboarding. After a blown-out knee derailed his skating plans, he shifted his focus back to writing music. In 2008 he formed the band, The Gypsy River Haunts that disbanded in 2012. Feeling the need to roam, he bought a car, loaded up his dog and headed around the country collecting stories for what he deemed his “record-writing road trip”. After 8,000 miles of driving, Sheppard wound up back in Idaho with no plan to stay, but realized after landing, that all his childhood friends were great musicians and that he had everything he needed to make the record he had in mind. Packing it up for a trip to LA, Sheppard and pals recorded Far From Here in 2015 at Bedrock Studios before heading back to Idaho. “I realized how much more I thrive in a mountain town,” said the artist. “I need to be in nature to feel a bit more sane.”

But a slower pace doesn’t mean that Sheppard has slowed down. He is on the road constantly (both solo and with band), playing festivals such as Stagecoach Country Music Festival, Treefort Music Festival, The Feed LA Festival and The Northern Rockies Music Festival. He’s shared the stage with The Black Lillies, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Whiskey Shivers and Scott H. Biram and has toured with friend and fellow roots musician, Jeff Crosby.

On Steady Your Aim, Sheppard doesn’t sugarcoat any of the emotions in his songwriting. He writes honest music that comes from the heart and darker places in life. The first track of the album “Take A Walk With Me” is inspired by packing up his life in LA and heading back to the mountains…”I was tired of the coast, so I booked it for the pines. Took a swing at the open road and caught up with my mind.” The more somber 2nd song, the title track, is a response to the first song, where he is taking the musical journey and dealing with the trials and tribulations of what being a musician on the road means. “The instruments are meant to make you look at everything wide-screen, like watching a film,” he explains.

From the sad and happy, “Here at the Bottom”, to the protest vision of “Not My Kind”, to the traditional (yet modern) waltz of “Holy Water” Steady Your Aim takes you on a musical journey from start to finish with a modern and experimental sound. Sheppard writes songs and music that isn’t a carbon copy of other country and Americana artists and that touches on subjects you don’t typically touch.

“Writing a song is something that I don’t, and won’t take for granted,” Sheppard vows. “Every show, every tour and every album provide me with new insight and a new way of looking at life. It helps me grow as a person and an artist and I want to see where that takes me for the rest of my life.”

Trevor Green

Summer's End - The Draper Rendezvous will be hosting Trevor Green to close out "Hen Stage" Friday evening at Summer's End ~ The Draper Rendezvous 2021 August 27, 2021.

Local Hero and Conqueror.

Bio:

Spirited, deep, and thought provoking are just a few words to describe the artist known as Trevor Green. His music is something fresh and distinctly new, yet is deeply woven in the spiritual fabric of our ancient ancestors. Surrounded by 5 guitars, 3 didgeridoos, an array of percussion instruments and decorated of symbolic ancestral nature, Green's stage appears to be a musical playground not for the faint of heart.

On the heels of Green's recent EP 'Collide,' comes the latest and most anticipated of his musical offerings. 'Voice of the Wind,' Green's 5th studio album, is a captivating sonic journey exposing the foundational fabric from which his inspiration is born. Traveling the depths of emotion and musical experience, 'Voice of the Wind' brings the listener into the haunting mystical realms of songs like "Rainbow Medicine," to the foot stomping grooves of "Let it Go" and into the celebratory experience of the songs like "Red Road" and the title track "Voice of the Wind." This record is a culmination of Trevor's music and spiritual experiences to date and expresses the willingness to invite each listener into his personal journey as a reflection of their own.

"I follow the music where it leads me. Through this process I find the music always comes from an honest place and that is most important in receiving the songs when they come through." What deepens the music is Trevor's ability to connect with his audience. Threading together sing-able and uplifting melodies, dynamic instrumentation, heart pounding rhythms and the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo, with his spontaneous improvisational ability, Green's performance is a one man powerhouse with universal appeal that seems to come from the ground up. With his honest delivery and ability to extricate the music from a deep place of truth, he leads his audience through vast landscapes of sound, weaving together a magnetic and spellbinding performance.

Through Green's devotion to bring forward the messages of our ancestors and connect deeply with culture, he recently launched a successful crowdfunding campaign that sent him, his wife, two young children and the son of his adopted Navajo brother on a two month journey into the heart of Australia to discover the roots of the aboriginal culture and the story behind the didgeridoo (yidaki), which has been such a fundamental part of the sound scape of his music.

Performing 25 shows across the region and meeting with various wisdom keepers from the indigenous aboriginal cultures, this would prove to be yet another life altering journey of deep magnitude. In seeking a deeper understanding and connection to didgeridoo, he was lead to a far deeper connection with the aboriginal community of Northeast Arnhem Land where he and his family were adopted into the Galpu clan. Given the name “North Wind” by elder Djalu Gurruwiwi, Trevor brings the blessing back to North America where he offers his fifth studio album 'Voice of the Wind.'

🎶Artist Spotlight🎶
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers will be bringing a new "country" to Summer's End - The Draper Rendezvous August 27th and 28th in Hailey, Idaho at the majestic Lion's Park.

Bio:
When Sidelong, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers’ debut album, was released in early 2017, it quickly earned kudos for its blast of fresh, fierce honesty and sly wit. It was a welcome new voice in a genre too often mired in the staid and conventional. And while that record may have come to many as a surprise, 2018's follow-up, Years, solidifies the point: Sarah Shook & the Disarmers have moved from getting people’s attention to commanding it.

North Carolina’s Sarah Shook sings with a conviction and hard honesty sorely lacking in much of today’s Americana landscape. Always passionate, at times profane, Sarah stalks/walks the line between vulnerable and menacing, her voice strong and uneasy, country classic but with contemporary, earthy tension. You can hear in her voice what’s she’s seen; world weary, lessons learned—or not—but always defiant. She level-steady means what she says. Writing with a blunt urgency—so refreshing these days it's almost startling—Sarah's lyrics are in turn smart, funny, mean, and above all, uncompromising. Sly turns of phrase so spot on they feel as old and true as a hymn. Anger that's as confrontational as it is concise. Humor that's as wry and resigned as a park bench prophet.
The Disarmers hit all the sweet spots from Nashville’s Lower Broad to Bakersfield and take Sarah's unflinching tales out for some late-night kicks. At times, it’s as simple and muscular as Luther Perkins’ boom-chicka-boom, or as downtown as Johnny Thunders. The Disarmers keep in the pocket, tight and tough.
Sarah Shook & the Disarmers have been covered by the likes of Rolling Stone, The FADER, Noisey/VICE, The Wall Street Journal, and more.

This is a new voice for a new country.
